Foogoo By Thermos: A safer sippy

Yhst63538499055964_1988_12311390I started to search for a safer sippy cup for my toddler because I was nervous about Bisphenol-A (BPA). Bisphenol-A is a chemical compound found in plastic bottles, that may cause developmental and neurological problems if it leaches into beverages and foods, click here to read the Z Report on Sippys and their BPA levels. In my search I came across the Foogoo Line by Thermos. Inchbug.com (click here to read my review of their fabulous BumpyName Orbit labels) was kind enough to send me two Foogoo products for review. We checked out the Thermos Foogo Leak-Proof Sippy Cup ($14.95) and the Thermos Foogo Leak-Proof Straw Bottle ($14.95), both made of stainless steel.

Ben really enjoyed testing out the Thermos Foogo Leak-Proof Sippy Cup(which holds 7 oz). You can get it with or without handles and it has asoft spout. His milk stays cold for a really long time (for 6 hours!).Which really comes in handy when we’re out and about — this is one ofthe only cups that we take when we travel. I’m also happy to reportthat this cup has survived Ben’s rough use of it. I can’t count theamount of times that Ben knocked it over, but it held up almostperfectly.

Yhst63538499055964_1988_12731747I absolutely love the Thermos Foogo Leak-Proof Straw Bottle. So does Ben — we fight over who gets to use it. It holds 12 oz. ofliquid.  I love that it really keeps my iced green tea cold for hours;Ben prefers milk, of course, when it’s his turn to use it.  Since Benwould like to use it all the time, I plan on getting Thermos’ Hydration Bottle (seems to be the grown-up version of Foogoo’s Straw Bottle) for myself. It survived me dropping it during my very pregnant stage and did not leak at all.

Features of the Foogoo line are:

•All plastics used for Thermos Foogo products are BPA free
TherMax double wall vacuum insulation for maximum temperature retention
The vacuum-insulated stainless steel interior and exterior is non-reactive to all food and beverages
•Dishwasher safe (top rack only)
•Soft silicone straw
Hygienic Push-Button Lid snaps closed for leak-proof travel
Kid-Proof Design features unbreakable stainless steel interior and exterior withstands daily use

Sweat-Proof design won’t leave water ring
Lab Tested – Inhibits dangerous bacteria growth
•The soft drinking spout is made from “food contact safe” Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE)
•The valve plate and lid are made from polypropylene (PP#5)
•All materials are FDA approved

Both cups were very easy to wash. The straw bottle comes apart toclean and you can pop the straw part out easily. Usually I wash the topand straw part in the dishwasher and hand wash the stainless steel base– the Z Report recommends NOT using the dishwasher.

Verdict: I think the Thermos’ Foogoo Sippy Cups and Straw Bottles are a great way to avoid BPA and keep your kids’ drinks cold at the same time!
