Steal That Look, Forty Weeks Style: Halle Berry's Patterned Pregnancy

Forty Weeks Julia Beck by Julia Beck, of Forty Weeks

Halleberry40weeks_2We see a pattern here! Halle Berry has been the essence of natural, feminine and easy pregnancy style since she announced in September that she and Gabriel Aubry were expecting, what I am sure will be the world’s sexiest baby! It is no wonder that CBB readers voted Halle Berry “expectant mom of the year” -– she is simply gorgeous! Halle has been bold and true to her unique style and vibe through her entire pregnancy. Halle’s new third-trimester ‘do’ has only brought out more of her enviable effervescence. So what’s the pattern? Well, certainly confidence. And in this case, a patterned faux-wrap dress that really works with a charcoal cardigan and dark glasses for a great day look.

Here’s what to keep in mind when stealing Halle Berry’s “Patterned” look Forty Weeks Style:

*Patterned wrap or faux-wrap dresses make great transitional pieces –- purchase with the notion of your fourth-trimester in mind.
*Colorful patterned dresses are a fantastic day or casual evening look. Get maximum wear out of this investment by keeping it in heavy day rotation.
*Look for a cut that flatters and feels “in place”.  Always consider a cami, or second skin, as a way to get ample coverage.
*Layer up! Shrugs, camis and other knit layering pieces are an ideal way to finish the look and keep a chill away.
*If you are a girl-on-the-go –- matte jersey is an excellent fabric choice.
*Choose pattern with flattering hues, stay in a palate that will bring out your glow.
*Keep it simple –- when wearing a patterned dress less is more. Make the dress your statement and keep the rest quiet.
*Consider a micro-pattern, if one of the more bold marco-patterned dresses feels like too much.

Steal That Look Forty Weeks Style — Patterned Pregnancy
RipeprintdressDue Maternity’s Ripe Print Maternity Wrap Dress (right, $110) is a well-proportioned and richly-colored choice. The brown, white and orange combo has great “pop appeal”. And the print, while bold is quite sophisticated and flattering. (Save 15% with code "CBB")

GarnetprintdressThis Garnet Wrap Maternity Dress by Japanese Weekend (left, $92) is an early sign of spring! I love the garnet, ivory and black pattern on this ¾ sleeve dress. Belly Dance Maternity suggests this one alone or layered with leggings and flats for two very distinct looks from one great dress. (Save 15% with code "CBB")

FemtdressLooking to go bold? FEM by T –Bags Maternity Side Ruched Dress (right, $202) combines some of spring’s vivid hues in a macro and mighty print. This faux-wrap, side-ruched dress has some extraordinary detailing including bloused long sleeves with gold tone buttons at the cuff.

PnpsiderucheddressHere is a style steal indeed. A Pea in the Pod’s Side Ruched Dress (left) is marked down from $225.00 to $80! This easy to wear piece features a dramatic geometric print with long sleeves and a modest neck-line.

NoticelimedotwrapdressFeeling like flirty fun? I am such a fan of Notice’s Lime Dot Wrap Dress (right, $139). The neckline is generous and is topped off with a collar, adding a bit of polish. Cut in ¾ sleeve, easy to wear (and travel) matte jersey -– this is a dress that is open to endless possibilities. (Save 15% with code "CBB")

fourth trimester?? ummm if tri means three then i dont think theres such a thing as a fourth trimester! LOL

Sarah’s note: It’s a joke term used to refer to the three months after birth when most women still have a bit of a belly and their bodies are still going back to normal. You can google it and there’s lots of results!
