Featured Review: Maxi-Cosi Priori Convertible Car Seat

317hhiyazcl__aa250_Maxi-Cosi, already a huge brand in Europe, is taking over our shores — thanks to the Dorel Juvenile Group (who also imported the fab Quinny strollers, click here to read my recent review of the Buzz). Their Mico Infant Car Seat is becoming very popular (if I didn’t already own an infant car seat from my toddler, I would have bought one!) I was so excited to review their new Priori Convertible Car Seat ($199). Designed to support your child from birth to 4 years (up to 40 lbs) this convertible car seat has a RECLINE feature (actually 4 settings for the seat).

It’s a pretty blah seat. It’s basically a souped up Cosco Scenera (made by the same parent company) that retails for $50. Most kids will need another convertible before they reach booster age/size because of this seats low top slots (which you can’t go above) and the 40lb limit. There are a lot of other options in that price range that will last them until they can safely use a booster.

Curious if anyone has more info on this seat! Maxi Cosi rules the cars here in Holland but no chance of finding one like this to use from birth. I was actually at a dutch baby convention today and ASKED a sales rep about such a seat and they treated me like a total dumbass and said such seats are ILLEGAL in The Netherlands! I mentioned that the infant only seats cost minimum 150 euro and my son was only in one for 4 mos max before he outgrew it’s limitations for height and weight. They swore up and down that you should NOT use ANY other seat until the baby is 1 year. I rolled my eyes and left the booth. I will check in Belgium, I think they have such seats.
