Janet Jackson says she 'would love to have kids'

If she’s feeling pressured to start a family with boyfriend Jermaine Dupri, Janet Jackson isn’t showing it.

The 41-year-old singer admits that she and Jermaine "would love to have kids" at some point, but now isn’t the right time.  In recent interviews she explained that she’s "got to get a little more kid out of me first before I move on and be childish with my child."  That she is now in her 40s is also apparently not a huge concern for Janet, who said that although she knows she needs to "hurry up" the process, advances in fertility medicine have given her reason to hope that a baby could still be in her future.

Now you can have your eggs frozen and there are all sorts of things you can do. I’ve still got time so I think I’m okay…Someday I know it’s going to happen. Exactly when, I don’t know.

Janet and Jermaine have been dating since 2002.

If her biological clock isn’t ticking yet it probably isn’t going to. I like her, but I don’t understand why she doesn’t just say she doesn’t want kids, I guess some people are afraid of backlash.

I think Janet may be fooling herself. Yes, you can freeze eggs, but you want to freeze young eggs, not 41 year old eggs.

I agree with Ivey. I think she doesn’t truly want kids but doesn’t know what to say. Maybe she’s conflicted and hoping to run out the clock, so the decision is made for her? No sane person at 41 thinks they have time to waste if they really want biological kids. Perhaps she’ll adopt if she wants to wait another five years.

If she didn’t want kids then she wouldn’t be giving interviews like she did last year about wanting them. I read an interview about a year ago in which she said was for the first time, seriously thinking of having children and soon.

Why not say if it happens it happens..OR, motherhood is not for me. I just don’t want women thinking they can put it off for so long if they do want kids, just because a celeb is having children at 44 or so. Most have tried expensive methods including using another woman’s eggs.

Actually Janet and Jermaine have been trying since they started dating, but have not had any luck on their own or with medical assistance.

sure, you CAN wait until you’re 50 to start thinking of having kids someday, but why? especially if you don’t have any fertility problems.

umm I don’t know where anyone has heard Janet and Jermaine have been trying for years!! LOL

I’m a LONG time JJ fan. Janet has expressed her love and desire to be a mother for ages but has never felt rushed to do so and I believe it stems from her childhood and possibly could be a bit apprehensive about raising a child.

JD has a daughter already and I am sure Janet is a great (step) mommy to his child.

Janet you do you thing and don’t worry about it!!

For whatever reason as soon as I read the post about Janet wanting kids but right now I immediately felt like she doesn’t want any. And that’s fine because everyone is not meant to have kids and some people just don’t want to have kids. It’s a personal choice, but her statement just leaves me thinking she doesn’t want any kids and she just doesn’t want to say it. I guess the only person who knows is Janet.

maybe marcia cross should have a chat to her about still having “time”.
