Jaime Pressly explains son Dezi's name

Jaimepresslydezicalvo_cbb_2My Name is Earl actress Jaime Pressly, 30, recently talked to Parade Magazine and explained (again) how she and fiance Eric Calvo, aka DJ Eric Cubiche came to name their 10-month-old son Dezi James.

His father is Cuban and he always mimics how Desi Arnaz greeted Lucy: ‘Hi, honey. I’m home.’ So we named our son for Desi but changed the spelling. He’s almost crawling and is the most animated child. Really, Mr. Personality.

I hope this isn’t wrong to say, but I think mixed race babies are so gorgeous! Seal & Heidi’s boys especially. I can’t wait to see Dezi in a few years!

cute cute baby – but isn’t it “lucy, i’m home!” not “hi honey, i’m home!”?

No, I don’t think it is wrong to say. I have mixed race children and people on the streets constantly compliment me for having such beautiful children. Look at Baby Spice’s beautiful, mixed race son below. I think mixed race children are a sign of progress.

Yep. But, I wouldn’t know that Emma’s baby was of mixed parentage, just from looking at him. Nor would I presume “mixed heritage” from looking at Desi James or Valentino–the daughter of Salma Hayek.

You can find gorgeous children in every race (not just mixed races) so why just single the mixed raced children out? If that makes sense lol.

Well actually, we are all mixed so I guess that makes all of us gorgeous.

I feel like I remember her explaining the baby’s name a while back….this doesn’t seem to be new news to me!

Sarah’s note: Right, she did in 2006 — it’s linked in pink where it says ‘again.’ This is a new interview though.

When will we get some updated pics?

Sarah’s note: We have no way of knowing.
