Jessica Alba says motherhood means you 'can't be self-interested anymore'

Jessica Alba says that she and fiance Cash Warren have begun "thinking of names" for their baby — due in May or June — but she’s remaining tight-lipped on their list of candidates, recently telling an inquiring reporter that she "would never share that."  Once the baby arrives, Jessica said she’s looking forward to sharing more of her time with her child — and less of her time making movies. 

I have to believe that when you have a child and you have someone that needs you and needs your time, you kind of can’t be self-interested anymore and you have to consider that any time you spend away from your child is invaluable. And so I think I’ll just probably be a bit more choosy and not work for two years straight like I just did.

The baby will be the first for Jessica, 26, and Cash.

Very true. And I think it takes actually having a child to reveal the depth of that. It’s easy to say, and most of us recognize it as common sense, but after you actually have the baby even your personal non-mom thoughts can’t be completed the same way they used to, let alone your actions. I’m glad Jessica’s able to see that her baby won’t just fit right into her world – it will create a brand new world for her that she couldn’t possibly fathom existed. On another website, people really seem to dislike her for some reason, but I think she’s got the right idea and she’ll be fine.
