Brooke Shields talks about balancing work and family

Actress, author, wife and mom Brooke Shields can’t have much free time on her hands these days.  With her return to the small screen in NBC’s new show Lipstick Jungle, the 42-year-old is finding herself once again juggling career and family like so many other working moms.  Brooke says that while she believes we can do it all, we can’t do it all perfectly — and that’s okay.

I think that women can have so much more than they realize.  I feel very lucky that I’ve had the opportunity to try to grasp as much as I can in my life. So, I do have a family, and I do have a husband, and I do have a career. And not at one time do I feel that I’m 100 percent in any one [of them]. That means that every day it’s a navigation.

Brooke and her husband Chris Henchy have two daughters — Rowan Francis, 4 ½, and Grier Hammond, 21-months.

I know most of these comments are taken out of context and I admire Brooke Shields but I think as long as we are doing our best at anything then it is perfect. I would interpret her statement to suggest that we may not live up to our own expectations and that’s ok, as long as we are doing our best and being present in the moment then I think that’s perfect!
