Erik and Summer Sanders Schlopy welcome son Charles Robert Spider

Olympic swimmer (and former Skating with Celebrities host) Summer Sanders Schlopy, 35, and her husband, Olympic skier Erik Schlopy, 35, welcomed their second child on Tuesday, January 15th. Charles Robert Spider Schlopy arrived at 2:33 am, weighing in at 8 lbs, 7 oz, and 20 ½ inches long.

He joins big sister Skye Bella, 21 months. The pregnancy was announced in November. Summer’s due date had been January 8th. Interestingly, Skye arrived on Summer’s father’s 65th birthday, while Charles arrived on Erik’s father’s 65th birthday!

That’s really neat about the babies being born on the grandfather’s 65th birthdays!

About Spider, I’m sure there’s some meaning or it’s a family joke or something. I can’t see them just throwing it in there.

Reality show junkie I am, I remember Summer more from her hosting duties than her sport!

I can’t wait to hear where Spider came from. But at least he has two normal names, Charles Robert, and never has to let anyone know about Spider if he doesn’t want to.

Spider was named after the late skier “Spider” Sabich.
