Sam Fox says she'd love a baby of her own

After appearing on the UK’s Celebrity Wife Swap, singer and model Sam Fox says she’s more convinced than ever that she’s destined for motherhood.  The 41-year-old traded places with the wife of comic Freddie Starr, and in so doing, was put in the position of caring for Freddie’s 14-month-old daughter.  Sam says,

I wanted to get a taste of what it would feel like to be a mum.  I’ve always had a strong maternal instinct and ideally I would love one of my own.  Looking after Freddie’s baby proved to me that I’d be a great mum.

Although she and longtime partner Myra Stratton, 52, are considering all their options, Sam says she knows that those options become more and more limited as time goes by.

Myra’s too old now, but I’m 42… there’s still time, though I know the clock is ticking.  It’s just so difficult that Myra and I can’t have a baby of our own. We’ve even talked of adopting. I’d rather do that than not have one at all — there are lots of children in this country who need mummies.

Still, as she prepares to embark on a world tour to promote her eighth album, Sam mused that perhaps her dreams of a baby might need to be on hold for a little while longer.

It wouldn’t be fair to drag a child round the world, touring. So the time has to be right.

Sam and Myra have been partners since the late 1990s.

Is this the same woman that had that song “Naughty Girls Need Love Too”? And if so, is she a lesbian?

Yes, that and “Touch Me (I Want to Feel Your Body”. I wish her all the best…there are certainly ways to combine a music career and motherhood.

Karen ~ That is the right person. I had no idea that she was a lesbian either. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with that, I just remember Samantha Fox singing, “Naught girls need love”…yeah i’m digging myself a hole here..lol Okay well best of luck to her and her partner with having a baby!!!

Wow — 80′s flashback having those songs mentioned again! LOL I also had no idea she was gay. Well, if being a mom is what she wants, then I hope it works out for her.

It makes me laugh when people look after a child for a weekend or week then boldly announce what a great mother they would make. People, its not the same thing!

I had to look after my baby brother for years while my mother went to work, and I mean change, feed, burp, the whole thing, plus he was my brother so I loved him BUT it is completely different to becoming a mother yourself when you’re the one doing the all night nursing, pacing the corridors, etc.

Ilona- I doubt she only just considered it after that one week. ;)

And as for her being a lesbian, I remember reading an article some years ago when she was talking about her partner, and I think she was keen not to set herself as hetero- or homosexual; she basically said that she had fallen in love with her partner because of WHO she (her partner) was, not what gender she was.

Thanks for the update, everyone! :) I haven’t heard anything from her since the 80′s. Almost didn’t even know that was her, since she was referred to as “Sam Fox”. I just always knew her as “Samantha”. Didn’t make the connection at first!
