Sam Fox says she'd love a baby of her own
After appearing on the UK’s Celebrity Wife Swap, singer and model Sam Fox says she’s more convinced than ever that she’s destined for motherhood. The 41-year-old traded places with the wife of comic Freddie Starr, and in so doing, was put in the position of caring for Freddie’s 14-month-old daughter. Sam says,
I wanted to get a taste of what it would feel like to be a mum. I’ve always had a strong maternal instinct and ideally I would love one of my own. Looking after Freddie’s baby proved to me that I’d be a great mum.
Although she and longtime partner Myra Stratton, 52, are considering all their options, Sam says she knows that those options become more and more limited as time goes by.
Myra’s too old now, but I’m 42… there’s still time, though I know the clock is ticking. It’s just so difficult that Myra and I can’t have a baby of our own. We’ve even talked of adopting. I’d rather do that than not have one at all — there are lots of children in this country who need mummies.
Still, as she prepares to embark on a world tour to promote her eighth album, Sam mused that perhaps her dreams of a baby might need to be on hold for a little while longer.
It wouldn’t be fair to drag a child round the world, touring. So the time has to be right.
Sam and Myra have been partners since the late 1990s.
