Update: Prince Edward and Sophie's son suffers allergic reaction

Update: James suffered from a minor allergic reaction, according to reports.  It is not known what caused the reaction but a royal spokeswoman stated,

It’s not life-threatening and it’s not serious.

Originally posted January 24th at 10 p.m.: Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, 43, and his wife Sophie were seen taking their five-week-old son James Alexander Philip Theo Mountbatten-Windsor to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London today after he became ill.  He is currently undergoing tests to identify the illness, with his 42-year-old mother by his side.

A royal spokesperson refused to comment, calling it a "private matter." However, a source reported that,

Sophie arrived just after 3 p.m. You could tell by the looks on their faces that they were very concerned. They rushed upstairs straightaway and went immediately into a consultant’s room.

How do babies that young have allergic reactions, especially ones that can put them in the hospital? We have lots of environmental allergens where I live, but I’ve never heard of a child having a reaction that violent to them. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Poor baby…
