Adiri Natural Nurser Ultimate Baby Bottles

In December, Jennifer Lopez went on a huge shopping spree for her upcoming new additions (rumor has it that she’s expecting twins), at LA’s Petit Tresor. She got doubles of a lot of items, like a few double strollers and including 10 Adiri™ Natural Nurser™ Ultimate Baby Bottles. After using the Adiri™ Natural Nursers the past few weeks, I can see why! I love these bottles because of the bottle’s unique breast and nipple shape (especially perfect for a newborn), the bottles are polycarbonate-free and bisphenol-A free and best of all, my newborn Allegra loves them.

The way you use the Adiri™ Natural Nurser™ Ultimate Baby Bottle is a little different from traditional bottles. You can store them upside down or right side – just make sure you use the cover sleeve if you keep the bottle upside down. I love that you can see how much you are putting in (with measurements). I pretty much only use EBM (expressed breast milk) in them. My whole family gets a kick out of them (we call them the boobie-shaped bottles). But the fact is, they are great bottles to use!

As your child gets older, they can go to a different version of the Adiri™ Natural Nurser™ Ultimate Baby Bottle. Stage 1 is for 0-3 months (and is all white). Stage 2 is for 3-6 months and is white and purple. Stage 3 for 6+ months and is white and orange. If in doubt, Adiri has a note about which stages to use when,

When in doubt about which stage to buy, select the slower flow for babies who are solely breastfeeding and mom wants to keep them on the breast, given that the baby will have to work harder to get the milk, much like breastfeeding.

Cons
If you store it upside down, keep the cover sleeve on it when not in use
Carefully screw the bottom part on, otherwise it will leak- it is easy to do, but at 3am, I have no brain and have to make sure I do it correctly
Will not fit your breast pump and cannot be used to store expressed breast milk (EBM) in the fridge (but not really a con because I am currently using sterilized bags to pump and store my EBM)

Using these bottles requires a couple tricks of the trade. Such as, when warming up EBM in the Adiri bottle, Adiri says:

Milk can be warmed in the bottle by holding the filled Adiri Natural Nurser under running hot water. It should not be submerged in water with milk in the bottle as the water pressure can unseat the valve and cause milk to leak.

Nancy, thanks so much for this review! I have two children, both bottle fed, but am pregnant with my third and plan on nursing as long as possible. We plan to supplement the boob with a bottle of EBM every now and then (or….every night so I can sleep?!), and I’ve been shopping around to find a good bottle that will help with a more seamless transition between bottle and boob. On top of all this, we’ve been using Dr. Brown’s which I am THROWING OUT because they are rampant with BPA!! Horror!!

I’m happy to hear that Allegra likes them, and do you really find the valve helps cut down on gas and colic? (this is one thing I’m reluctant to let go of with the Dr. Brown’s- they are fantastic at preventing colic. Sigh)

I left a comment on my love of this bottle on the blog, but I also wanted to post here that I think you are doing something wrong if your bottle is leaking. If the bladder on the vent and the bottom is dry when you put the bottle together, the bladder will seal, and there should be no leakage. Of course, you also must twist it on all of the way so there is no leakage through the threads either.

I used to prepare my son’s bottles the night before for daycare, so I would have the medela bottles I pump to clean for the next day, and I never had any problem with leaking as long as I made sure all parts were dry. I hope this helps you and the other readers!

BTW– I was reviewing what I wrote and what you wrote, and I realized that you said there are three pieces to the bottle, when in fact there are four. The bladder on the screw bottom. If you washed the bottle parts with that on, you will not get a good seal and then “the leak” occurs.

Also, I remember reading in the leaflet that you are not supposed to put them in a steam-sterilizer, but rather boil them in a pot of water to sterilize. I could have a faulty memory on that though.

Has anyone had trouble sliding the cover over the bottle? Mine seems to stick to the bottle, so it’s very hard to get it on correctly (seated all the way) which will cause leaks if set upside down?

I, too, am having problems with sliding the cover on correctly which is making the bottle leak when I am pouring my EBM into the bottle, then it leaks when I turn it right side up…HELP!?!

I’m having the same problem as Erin and Maria. I cannot seem to get the top on well enough to prevent leaks! It will look like I have the top on perfectly, but the nipple will start leaking as soon as I put the formula in. Anyone have any suggestions? It is so frustrating, and I am going to switch to another bottle if I can’t figure out how to stop the leaks!

@Rachel– I didn’t have a problem, but others did. What I did to prevent the leak was to tap the bottle on the counter a few times prior to filling (lid side down) to ensure the cover was on tightly.
