Dominican Republic singer Anais Martinez suffers an ectopic pregnancy

We are saddened to report that Anais Martinez, a 23-year-old singer from the Dominican Republic, has lost her baby as a result of an ectopic pregnancy.  She reportedly has told People en Espanol,

I was pregnant. The pregnancy process got started in my body, but, for some reason, it was interrupted, which caused me to have a miscarriage.  I feel bad because I was really excited when I found out. All the urine tests that I did and all the tests that came out positive, I was happy, I was excited.  I even called my family because I thought I was going to be a mother.  But it didn’t happen. I thought it was a gift from God.

Anais had only recently announced that she and her boyfriend of three years were expecting the baby, which was their first.

I always feel so sad when I hear about people suffering a miscarriage. After 7 years of trying for another child I finally got pregnant and the very next day suffered a miscarriage. It was horrible and sad and I still think about the baby that didn’t make it. Then a year to the day exactly I found out that I was pregnant again and I now have a beautiful 4 month old baby boy. He is a joy and definitely a gift from God. We named him Matthew, which means gift from God and he truly is. I know that it is hard to see now and to hear that it wasn’t meant to be, but I look at Matthew as being the baby we lost and think of it as he just needed some more time to come out perfect. Bless her during this time, it is so sad. But there is a light and God will bless again.

I’m a huge fan of Anais. It’s been a rough ride for her but she sure is heading the right way. Her recent loss is sad, but now there’s a very special angel watching over her.
