Julia Haworth expecting first child in July

Actress Julia Haworth, 28, has announced that she and husband Jon Wormold, 30, are expecting their first child in July.  Julia is so happy with the pregnancy that she "shed tears of joy."

We haven’t stopped smiling. It’s such a special time and I feel so lucky we’re going to share it.

In her role on Coronation Street, Julia recently suffered from chronic postnatal depression and she feels that it has prepared her.

In a good way it’s prepared me.

I don’t know who she is. but she looks very young in that photo. I thought she was a child herself.

Hopefully she will not experience Post Partum Depression in real life. Having it and pretending to have it would be two completely different things, and I am not so sure playing a role where at the end of the scene you can go back to “being normal” would prepare you on any level. It certainly would not have prepared me. As a mom who has been through PPD after 4 of her children, it can be a very difficult and long road for everyone in the family, requiring medication, therapy, time, patience and understanding. Each time it occurred again, even though I had experienced it before and ran the risk of having it again, I was unprepared for how intense the feelings, anxiety and fear could be. I was fortunate and did not have it after every birth (I have 6 children) and each time I did, it varied in intensity. Just finding the right medication alone can be a long frustrating process, as well as the time it takes for it to truly take effect. Despite what Tom Cruise says – vitamins and exercise do not always help and are not the only answer. Not taking medication until I was able to work to feeling more stable and less anxious and fearful all the time would’ve been irresponsible. The safety and well being of my children and myself were top priority. This is a serious condition. I have to admit feeling a bit rankled about the thought that playing a fictional character who “experiences PPD” for the sake of a show meant to be entertaining can prepare anyone for what it truly is like.

I wish her a healthy, uneventful pg with healthy baby at the end of it and a problem free postnatal period. No woman should have to experience PPD like I have, nor PPD on levels that other women do. Mine was bad enough, but unfortunately, there are women who endure much worse.

Happy to hear “Claire” is expecting in real life! BTW, it’s just Coronation Street, not “The” Coronation Street.

Hi
Not quite sure how old Julia is but she certainly isnt a child. Think shes in her late 20s and she got married last year.
Really pleased for her, she always comes across as a really nice down to earth woman.

Aww!
Claire’s having a baby!!

Yes – she looks young, but she plays a married Mum of 2 on Corrie.

I’m so tired of people making critical comments about how young some pregnant women LOOK. The woman is twenty-eight years old, for chrissake. She can have a baby if she wants. I am well into my twenties, and when my girlfriends and I go out, I have high school-aged children (boys) coming over to hit on me, because I am very young-looking. When my boyfriend (who looks older than his age) and I are affectionate in public, he receives disgusted looks and once a woman muttered ‘pedophile’ at him. I half-dread the day that I start to show in my first pregnancy, because I know that I will get lectured by strangers who won’t mind their own business. If you can’t say something besides how young she looks, keep your mouth shut.

I guessed she was expecting as I’ve noticed her getting quite big in Corrie lately! I wish her all the best as she seems a nice person and is a very good actress.
