Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves expecting first child

Actor Matthew McConaughey, 38, and his model girlfriend Camila Alves, 25, are expecting their first child. In an announcement on his website today, Matthew writes,

Gotsome blessed news…a celebration of life and bounty…a newbornconceived. Yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together…it’s3 months growin’ in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far.

We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this giftfrom God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raisingthis child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or herthrough this life.

Wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution. Thanks forbeing fans of me and my work and now this new and miraculous chapter inmy life, as me and Camila and our child do our best to just keeplivin’.

Seriously Iam so happy for them and I wish them a happy and healthy baby. I remember when he was on Oprah a few years back and he brought out his dog. The over the moon love he had for his dog was awesome and I remember thinking…if this guy ever has kids they will be loved to the moon and back!! He seems like such a fun loving guy. No doubt that the baby will be beautiful.

I love matthew he is so hot, and a favorite actor of mine. I’m surprised she is pregnant only because they have only dated like 5 months and she is already 3 months pregnant, but than again a lot of people in hollywood have kids without marriage lately, it’s like the new trend lol. Nice of him to confirm it on his website, he seems like a sweet guy I have always thought.

Doesn’t anyone get married first anymore? I’m pleased for them, a baby is always a blessing and I’m sure they’ll be wonderful parents but that little song of ‘first comes love, then comes marriage” keeps popping into my head. I think is not necesary to be married to make a great family…Look Jhonny Depp, he is not married to Vanessa Paradis and they have a FANTASTIC family and i’m sure they love each other as much as any married couple (or more…)

Am I the only one who thinks this is laughable?

She is 22 and they’re not married! These are the kind of stories that frustrate me and others who are married and in long term stable relationships who are having fertility issues. That said, congratulations to them.

I have to agree with you korrie. It seems that the idea of marriage and a sticking / long-term, if not eternal commitment, is null and void these days. I’m not knocking non-married couples, but it seems that the traditional covenant of marriage and a committed unit is lacking. I can name tons of celebrities who have what seems to me had an “oh golly we’re pregnant” moment and then quickly got engaged. It just seems that the idea of planning a family and the commitment that goes with it has gone. It just seems sad to me that because a couple aren’t married the idea of breaking up is made easier, leaving children in the middle of broken homes, (Tom Brady/Bridget Moynahan; Mary Elizabeth Perkins/Billy Crudup; Heath Ledger/Michelle Williams). I can probably think of more but am drawing a blank. By next year I can bet you that 1/2 if not 3/4 of the unmarried, pregnant celebrities will be broken up.

But, on a happy note…this will be a beautiful baby!! CONGRATS to them!

Aloe and Korrie, they could be married and still break up just as easily. The cases you named except for one, Aloe, the men left the women for another woman so I think it’s good they didn’t get married.Marriage before baby doesn’t always equal happy home. I wish more people realized that. I’m still shocked we are still having this debate in 2008. Also, staying together for the kids is one of the worst ideas ever. It usually never works and kids aren’t stupid. They can tell mom and dad don’t like each other even if they put on a show for the kids

Renee – i think what Aloe is saying is, what wrong with wanting to commit to marriage? Surely if you’re committing to have a baby together then you can commit yourself to marriage? Or are they thinking it would make it easier to leave someone when they have your baby? ‘Oh, well at least we’re not married so things won’t get complicated if we split’. ‘I’ll just have to contact a lawyer to work out some kind of custody arrangement’. It is so nice to see a celeb celebrating the birth of his baby boy. Benigna Marko has been so happy to see so many celebrities hitting the town with baby in hand.
