Eva Longoria Parker says she and Tony Parker are discussing babies

01/12/2008 at 08:19 AM ET

Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria Parker admits that she’s enjoying the newlywed phase with new husband Tony Parker, so much so that she’s reluctant to add the pitter-patter of little feet to the equation.  Tony, on the other hand, feels like it’s time to start a family.

Tony really wants to have a baby, but I’m scared it’s going to change the chemistry. Tony is young, but he really wants his child to be able to go to a game and remember that his dad was an NBA star and to see him play.

Eva, 32, and Tony, 25, were married in July 2007.

I know Marc Cherry asked all the women on DH not to get pregnant for a while…but I’m not sure how long of a time period that was supposed to be. Anyway, now seems like a good time to me while the writer’s strike is going on since there are no new episodes being made. But Eva doesn’t sound like she’s quite ready. And besides, who knows when the strike will end. Could be tomorrow, could be several months yet. If it got to a point where she did get pregnant and was already showing when they started filming new episodes, it would be kind of strange since they’d have to find a way to explain it when they probably plan to pick up right where they left off with the storyline. Though they can always hide it…even though we still can always tell anyway!

did she say this before or after he cheated on her?

Sarah’s note: Those were rumors of one woman x17 found and they were shot down. She was said to be un-credible. Tony said he’s never met her.

Carol on

That sounds like a good reason to have a baby. I don’t think their child would not know that Dad is a basketball player.

Kelly on

They would have a beautiful baby…this does seem like the perfect time to have a baby with the writers strike going on. However, if they come back and shes showing it will hard to explain. Although, Marcia Cross was showing with the twins all last year and no one seemed to mind.

Tony is only 25, so I think he’s got lots of time in NBA to have his children see and remember him play.

Eva doesn’t sound quite ready yet, so I hope they hold off a little longer, for her sake. However, who is every really ready for a kid???

I am always surprised when I hear that couples are having a dramatic diffence in opinion regarding children and/or the timing of pregnancies. Doesn’t it make sense to iron out these difference before marriage?

M on

Carol, I don’t think that’s quite how it was meant. I just remember Steve Young saying kind of the same thing. It’s not that they don’t think their kids will not know they were a sports star, I think it’s more of wanting to share that part of their life with their children :-) Sure, not the only reason to have a baby, but I can understand it being a consideration.

brannon on

He may be only 25 but he always strikes me as a lot more mature than Eva.

Alice on

really brannon? It’s the contrary for me! He’s still teen-ish IMO. But that’s probably because I’ve heard his music =S

Ana on

Brannon, that’s because age doesn’t always mean being mature. There are many 15 year-olds out there much more mature than some 60 year-olds, and I know some myself (both 15 and 60-something year-olds).
If they had a kid I bet he/she would be very cute.

Lauren on

I wonder if she did decide to have a baby how they would write it into the DH script? She is such a petite woman and it would probably be very hard to hide. Also on the show “Gabriel” cant have children after her fall so how would they explain her pregnancy. Hmmm…

It seems silly to schedule your life around a show that probably will be canceled in a little while, and plus these two don’t seem like they will be married long. She seems vain and concerned with her career and is not interested in being a mom any time soon

Devon on

Nancy, I think alot of couples go into it thinking that they are on the same page, but when really they aren’t. Or perhaps Eva thought she was ready, but when he said “ok, let’s go for it” she got cold feet. It happens.

But who knows. This is their life and since they’ve committed themselves to each other, I’m sure they will work it out.

There is no way i would have a baby with him
I believe the rumors Look at how Thin Eva is now

Before they married, in several interviews, she claimed she was sooooo ready to get pregnant, her clock was ticking, she was feeling so maternal, and couldn’t wait to start a family. Now since she’s married, now since they got married she’s not so sure anymore? Hhmmm.

I also agree with Brannon (great name by the way). Tony does seem a lot more mature. Then again, a large number of the European-born celebs seem to mature quicker to me. Eva has admitted herself that he is the more mature one in their relationship.

Sarah D. on

I think Eva is being a bit selfish.(She probably doesn’t want to lose her “figure”. Get over yourself) After all, they are both in this together and she doesn’t have that much time left.

Simmi on

Hey, Eva is looking so good with her counterpart. But she has struggled a lot before reaching her destination as I read an article about her history http://www.octanmen.com/articleDetail/295/eva-longoria-desperately-hot-celebrity.htm
Can anybody tell me would it be good to have a baby for her at this point of time.

I think that when they are both good and ready they will decide then. Eva is pretty and Tony is cute the baby would be GORGESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
