Rosie O'Donnell talks about baby gifts for Taylor, Grace Hasselbeck

It appears as though their shared bond of motherhood may be what it takes to thaw the ice between Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 29, and her former co-host on The View, Rosie O’Donnell, 45.

Telling People that "peace prevails" between the two — who are now e-mailing each other — Rosie saw Elisabeth’s 9-week-old son Taylor Thomas on television earlier this week when Elisabeth returned to The View, and pronounced the baby "very, very cute."  Rosie, herself mom to Parker, 12, Chelsea, 10, Blake, 8 and Vivienne, 5, decided to gift both Taylor and his older sister Grace, 2 ½, "because, as the mother of four, I know that when the newborn arrives, the most important thing is a sibling gift."  Added Rosie,

For [Taylor], it was a lot of clothes, because babies spit up a lot. I go to Baby Gap. There is a standard newborn gift pack – as much as you can buy at the Gap without being arrested. And a learning gift, a soft shape sorter. And then for [Grace] who is older, I got a tea set that she loves.

Taylor isn’t the only one whose appearance provoked rave reviews from Rosie.  Of Elisabeth, Rosie said,

She seems good. She looks like she adopted, like she didn’t give birth. She looks perfectly fit and gorgeous already.

Grace and Taylor are Elisabeth’s children with husband Tim Hasselbeck.  Rosie’s four children are with longtime partner Kelli Carpenter O’Donnell

New life always seems to find a way to bring about peace and forgiveness.
This makes me happy that at least they can talk and maybe get back to being friends.

Just an FYI, Kelli’s last name is legally O’Donnell not Carpenter.

I guess I’m just happy to hear they’re on friendly terms again. The gifts she sent sound nice.
