Nicole Richie due to give birth sometime in the next week

Although we already knew it, Nicole Richie, 26, and Joel Madden, 28, are expected to become first-time parents sometime within the next week, confirms Josh Madden, Joel’s brother.

People caught up with the oldest Madden at the FUZE/Resolution Slenderize bash on Wednesday, where he shared some more information about the pregnancy.

We don’t know what [sex] it is. We don’t know any names. I’m being completely honest, I swear!

Despite not knowing the sex of the baby, Josh went ahead and bought clothes for his new niece or nephew.

I got them some clothes, that’s what I’m into. We’re very excited.

The Madden family also had a great Christmas spending time together.

Christmas was awesome. Nicole couldn’t fly, but we were all there. My sister [Sarah's] baby [daughter Clementine] was born on the 20th, so it was right before.

I have been wondering when she is due.
I’m so excited, i feel like a family member or something. Can’t wait.
Hope everything goes well with the delivery. I wanna know the baby name.
I heard Christina is due tomorrow (Friday).
Next will Rock! :)

I didn’t expect Joel and Nicole to pull the ‘I don’t want to know the sex until birth’ through until the end, so I’m actually excited to find out if it’s a girl or a boy. At first I said girl, but I’m getting a boy-vibe now. We’ll see :)

Sarah’s note: We’ve talked to a number of friends and family members of Nicole and Joel’s, and I truly believe that they do not know. I love when people don’t know, makes waiting for the baby that much more interesting. ;)

I agree, Sarah, that it’s much more interesting when we don’t know the sex beforehand. Waiting to find out the sex of your baby is one of the few genuine surprises in life, so I personally think it’s more exciting to wait until the birth.

I also had girl vibes at the beginning, but am now thinking that she’ll have a boy. I also predict that the baby will be born on Sunday 13th or Monday 14th (I’m thinking Monday).

I just wish Nicole would come out of hiding at least once more before the baby is born. Nicole, if you’re reading this, pleeeease – you look absolutely incredible pregnant, and we want to see you just once more before you give birth!

Sally- The rumor is that Christina is having a C-section tomorrow, not that she is actually due tomorrow (if the C-section rumor is true, she is probably not actually due for another one or two weeks, as doctors generally like to schedule C-sections at least a week, usually two, before the due date, to try and prevent the mother from going into labor before the date of the C-section).

Kate- I agree with Sarah. I know that other celebs have lied about not knowing the sex prior to birth (Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen, and Heidi Klum and Seal during their pregnancy with Henry, are two examples). However, not only have Nicole and Joel stated that they do not know (and do not want to know), but, as Sarah mentioned, several of their friends and family members have stated the same thing.

Also, Nicole stated a month or so ago, in an interview with People Magazine that she “Probably would have found out the sex behind his (Joel’s) back and not told him if he (Joel) didn’t insist on coming to every appointment.” I highly doubt she’d have said that if they really did know!

Anyway, why is it so hard to believe that Nicole and Joel really don’t want to know the sex of their baby before it’s born?

Awww…
Baby Madden, hurry up and be born. I want to know your name and hopefully eventually see your cute little face :)

It has been such a pleasure to watch the transformation of Nicole in the past year or so. Now to see her be a mommy will be even more heartwarming to witness.
