Lily Allen will send her child to local schools

British singer Lily Allen is expecting her first child and she is already thinking about what type of schooling the child will receive.

I won’t be sending my kids to private school. I want to be living in an area that’s a good catchment for schools.

Lily’s boyfriend is Ed Simons, 37.

In the UK public school is the name for elite private schools. We call what the US call public schools, state schools. So a school you pay money to go to can be called Private or Public school here (depends a lot on the eliteness, i.e. the school Prince William went to was a public school even thought it cost mega money). Free schooling is called state school

Yes, that’s true but she’s talking about catchment areas so she means that her kid will go to a state school. If you’re paying for the school you don’t need to be in a catchment area.
