Jack Black on crying kids and explaining things to toddlers
Like many parents, Jack Black has to concentrate on his ‘serious face’ when comforting or disciplining 19-month-old Samuel Jason, lest his son get the wrong impression of dad.
My kid is so damn cute, even when he cries. I have to watch out not tosmile while he’s crying because he’ll think I’m a cold bastard.Actually, I can tell he’s trying to manipulate me to get an ice creamor something, but who cares.
The 38-year-old actor and musician tries to connect with his son through explanations — although he’s well aware Sam might not be at a spot to understand them quite yet.
You have to really explain things even though he’s only a year-and-a-half. I’m like, ‘Sam, I know you want to go and play with my shaving cream, but you can’t because it’ll make a big mess.’ He doesn’t always get it, but at least I’m trying.
Even though his family is a target themselves, Jack isn’t above playing paparazzi to record his son’s development.
I have a video camera to capture my baby son Sam’s growth andevolution. I guess you could say I’m sort of making wild lifedocumentaries.
As for the new 2008 arrival wife Tanya Haden is currently pregnant with (likely the subject of future home movies), Jack says,
I can’t wait. Having kids has made me a changed man.
