Princesses of Netherlands pose for their father

Princesses Alexia, 2 ½, Ariane, 9 months, and Catharina-Amalia, [the family calls her Amalia for short] 4, pose for their father, Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, 40, at the family’s vacation home in their mother’s homeland, Argentina. The princesses’ mother is Princess Máxima, 36.

The second names of all three of the daughters are after Dutch queens: Amalia’s for her grandmother, Queen Beatrix, Alexia’s for her great-grandmother, Queen Juliana and Ariane’s for her great-great-grandmother, Queen Wilhelmina.

My kids’ names are after my daughter that passed away, and my brother. We are pregnant again, and are planning to name this baby after either my father’s paternal grandfather or both of the grandfather’s if it’s a boy, and my sister-in-law and mother-in-law (they have the same middle name) if it’s a girl.
We like family names. I am not named after any family members, but my husband’s first name is a family name, and his middle name is a variation of his father’s name.

My son’s middle name is Coy, it’s been passed down through 4 generations of men on my husband’s side. It orginated from my son’s great, great grandmother – her maiden name was McCoy (of the famous feud…). She gave one of her sons (my husband’s grandfather) the middle name Coy, and it’s been passed on from there. I love using family names – it is something special, and gives the child a sense of history.

Totally !
My grandmother was Ana, she died when my father was a teen, so my big sis is Ana, and I am Jo Ann. He wanted to go on with my younger sister, but my mother vetoed.
Then my father is Mário, so are my big brother and one of my younger brothers. And three of my brothers’ middle name is H/Enrique. Go figure. There is no imagination !

I always knew that my middle name, Bowdoin, was a family name that had been passed down, though I only learned about 5 years ago that I was given the name of my great-great-grandfather (and first Governor of Massachusetts) James Bowdoin. I always hated not having a “normal” middle name when I was younger, but now that I’m older, I love that representation of my family’s historical heritage!

My cousin made sure family names were part of all of her kids:

Carley Renee Dallas – Carley was just a favorite name, Renee is my cousin’s middle name, Dallas for the Dallas Cowboys.

Cameron Walton Martin – Cameron for Cameron, N.C. were my cousin lived as a kid, Walton is a great-grandfather’s name I believe and Martin is grandmother’s maiden name

Carter Ashleigh Trigg – Carter after dad’s best friend, Ashleigh because Carley picked it out when she found out mom was pregnant, and Trigg is a long long time ago family name

And after all that I can’t remember the youngest son’s middle names…

So, my great grandmother her baptised name was willemina, my grandmothers was, my mother also and me:D so already 4 generations and i intend to pass it on if i get a daughter

My first name and middle name are family names. Amellia is from my mother’s sister who died as a toddler. Her name was Armellia Mom just removed the r for Amellia with 2 l’s and my middle name is Bourie, my stepgrandmother’s maiden name.

My youngest son’s middle name is a family name in mine and my husbands family, Michael.

In greece, it’s a long time tradition to take the name of your grandparents. so i was named Persefoni, which is an ancient Greek name, after my paternal grandmother, my husband is called Themistoklis which was the name of his paternal grandfather and my son is called John after his paternal grandfather. In my husband’s family the tradition goes back four generations, the first child of the first child was always a boy and is called either Themistoklis or John and my husband plans to pass it to our son too, while i disagree because i would like to make up his own mind

- foni on

how adorable is this pictures of the three princesses?? i love this royal family.

My mom’s name is Maria Rosa, but everybody calls her Marita since she was a baby, so when she met my dad he thought that Marita was her real name and he was so happy because that was one of his favourite names…but then when they got married he discovered that her real name was M. Rosa, so…he decided to name his first daughter (my sister) Marita, but my mom didn’t like the idea, so they agree to put Marita as middle name….and seams that my dad really loved the name because i got it too! Silvana Marita :)
When my daughter was born i wanted to name her Arianna Marita, not because I like too much the name, but just for fun….so maybe one day she could also name her daughter the same, but my husband didn’t like the idea :( so she is just Arianna (maybe is better!)

Yes Catherine/Katherine/Kathleen/Kate – all deviations of it has been passed down several times. Also John.

These children have to be the most beautiful biological sibling set I’ve ever seen, they are so happy and naturally beautiful!

Well, my son has 3 names. Nemo Maarten Justin.
Both of the last two names are from our brothers. And Jolie Maria Agnes, maria is from one of the names from my mother in law (more people in her family are named Maria. Agnes is from my grandmother. Every firstborn woman is named Agnes. Including me.
