George Clooney praises Nicole Kidman's motherhood skills

Hours after Nicole Kidman, 40, announced her pregnancy, actor George Clooney, offered his congratulations. At the Critics’ Choice Awards in L.A. he said,

I’m thrilled for her. [She'll be] a perfect mother. She’ll be great. She’ll be a tall mother.

The two actors have been friends since they met in 1997 while doing the movie The Peacemaker. In 1998, Nicole and Michelle Pfeiffer bet Clooney $10,000 that by 2001, he’d be married with children. George won the bet.

Well George, she IS a great mother. She already has kids…

English is not my first language but isn’t it strange to say: “she’ll” if she is already a mother?

- Sarita on

Will be?? She is.
Love Nicole <3

Congrats to Nicole.

today is Zahara Jolie-Pitt’s birthday. Is there a thread on her?

Sarah’s note: I think Shannon has one planned for later in the day. But she’s in Australia, so she’s sleeping now.

“She’ll be a tall mother” wtf ,lmao Is that all he could think of ?

- mina on

Perhaps George meant that she’ll be a great mother to THIS child. Not meaning that she isn’t a great mother to her 2 children w/ TC. Just a comment some people make… “she’ll be a great mother”. I think is was innocent enough.

- Campbell on

Still an odd statement considering she already has kids who are teenagers.

- J-Lin on

maybe he meant she’ll be a great mom to a child who isn’t a scientologist. This one won’t be brainwashed against her.

For some who has known nicole for such a long time, you’d think that he’d know she already has children. It REALLY makes me think more into them callg katie mom.. I would hope that if one of my friends were interviewed about me.. Great mom would be the first words i’d want them to say.. because being a mom is #1 for me and ANY friend (mine or nicoles) should know that about most moms. Sounds strange but i wish them all the best..she has beautiful children and i’m sure this one will be in heaven w/ such a big family.

He also said, well hey at least she is older than 16 when she got pregnant lol.

- gianna on

maybe he meant, a great mother to a newborn?

- Sasha on

I agree… really weird statement, but the “she’ll be” is in square brackets, which means it’s been changed in some way. Not sure exactly what he said, but maybe it was a little less strange.

- CanadianGirl on

Yeah, it must have been cut down or changed in some way, as mentioned by Canadiangirl because of the brackets around [she'll be].

Hahahaha, I love him. This post cracked me up. Thanks for the laugh. :)

George is so funny.

George Clooney is so funny :P

I think because she is so rarely seen with her other kids alot of people forget that she has them…I respect the fact that they are kept out of the public eye but they are rarely seen only occasionally mentioned…i feel sorry for Isabella and Conner.
p.s. she definately adopted Isabella as a newborn, I remember seeing Nicole craddling her off of a plane, I’m not sure about Conner

- lulusass on

Does anyone know how far along she is? I couldn’t imagine her telling the world if she wasn’t at least a few months along…

I just wish her and Keith ALL the best!!! And I also think George meant she’ll be a great mother to this new baby, just as she has been to her other two children.

Sarah’s note: From comments her mom made, seems as though she’s almost 4 months along.
