Shannyn Sossamon's perfectly timed pregnancy

01/06/2008 at 11:20 AM ET

A Knight’s Tale actress Shannyn Sossamon, 29, was happy to quit acting for a while in 2002 after her movie The Order received wide criticism. She had a good reason to disappear as she became pregnant with son Audio Science, 4 ½.

It was good that I disappeared for a while. I got pregnant, and now I have a wonderful four-year-old son.

I got thrown into it kind of fast, so it was nice for me to take a step back. And I feel much more prepared now than if I had maybe not had my son and just kept going the way I was going.

Audio’s father is Dallas Clayton.

Wow, Audio Science.. thats a new one. Have we ever had any explanation from her on the name?

Sarah’s note: Not that I know of.

She started out as a DJ, I do believe, so there might be a correlation to Audio’s name there. :)

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
