Kelly Rutherford on settling down and Hermès' name

Kelly_rutherford_ms11277cbbjpg_2Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford, 39, has made no secret of the fact that she likes being an ‘older‘ mom, but now tells OK! that she was in such a rush to get there that she streamlined her dating process!

I would sit down with my dates and say, ‘I’m ready to get married and have kids, so if you’re not ready for that right away, let’s be friends.’ My husband, Daniel, was very much a family person, and being with him wasn’t boring!

Explaining her 14-month-old son Hermès Gustaf Daniel‘s name, Kelly says,

At my baby shower, my friends joked that I should name my baby Hermès because I love Hermès. Everywhere he looks, he’s going to have his name on everything, especially my credit card bills!

She’s such a fan she didn’t figure out she got the accent mark wrong? It’s Hermès, not Hermés…which may not seem like much difference but actually entirely changes the pronunciation. I cringe everytime I see this child’s name.

The linked article (in US and OK) has the name spelled with an accent grave, as it should be. Maybe the use of the accent aigu here is a typo?

I liked the name better before I found out it was inspired by her love for leather goods. I thought she was naming him after a Greek god, but if that were the case, the name wouldn’t have an accent at all.

Still, IMO, it’s a better name than if she had a Coach obsession…and he’s certainly a beautiful baby.

Sarah’s note: Yes, my mistake!
