I too adopted in my mid 40′s. My daughter from Guatemala is now 5 and the love of my life. She is an angel!! What a dream come true. My husband and I were not able to concieve and after the divorce my journey led me to adoption. What a wonderful path it has been. I am now wanting to add to my family but Guatemala is in turmoil and the country is closed. I looking for other outlets but the choices are few for a middle income single mother at 50. I am praying that I will be able to complete my forever family with a sibling for my girl. She would really like to have a sister.

I aplaude Ms. Keaton for not letting a relationship dictate whether or not she was to become a mom. I too, waited for the right man to come along and marry me. But it never happened. I began looking toward adoption, but there was another plan for me and I got pregnant in spite of using two forms of birth control correctly and having major female issues at 34. Now at 40, I have a beautiful four year old daughter that is the love of my life. All things happen for a reason.
