Paul McCartney tried to shield Stella from spotlight

Paul McCartney claimed his daughter Stella McCartney had no idea he was a massive star when she was a child. The former Beatle said he and late wife Linda shielded Stella, now 36 and a well-known clothing designer, and her brother and sisters, Heather, Mary, and James, from the spotlight. 

There was this one moment where the children were riding their little ponies in Scotland, and Stella said to me, "Dad, you’re Paul McCartney, aren’t you?" and I said, "Yes, darling, but I’m Daddy really."

Stella and husband Alashair Willis expect their third child on January 1. The couple also have a son, Miller Alasdhair James, 2 ½, and a daughter, Bailey Linda Olwyn, 13 months.

That is so sweet! But originally Paul stated in a 1973/74 interview to RS that it was Mary and not Stella. Don’t really know which to believe but I’ve always known it to be Stella. Then again she was only 2 at the time. Mary was 4.
