Reality star Nicole Richie, 26, who is in her ninth month of pregnancy, braves the cold in LA on Saturday with a trip to Ralph’s supermarket. Nicole and a friend picked up Butterfinger candy bars and Vogue. Nicole and Joel Madden’s first child is due together in early January. They aren’t finding out the sex.

Elizabeth and Stef- I don’t live in LA or California myself. However, I do know that a few CBB commentors who do have commented on other recent posts of celebs in LA, Hollywood, etc. (particularly Marica Cross and her twins) have mentioned that some parts of California (particularly parts that are near the ocean) can and do get very chilly at this time of year.
Anyway, what Nicole is wearing actually looks more like a Fall or early Spring coat to me than a Winter coat. Where I live, most people wear much thicker jackets in the wintertime.

Yeah, my friend lived in San Diego for a few months (August-October) and she said half the time it was warmer here in Ohio than it was there.

Its getting VERY chilly in Los Angeles right now. Im sure its nothing compared to climates in other parts of the country but when you arent used to the cold it can be quite shocking!

Why does everyone assume that Los Angeles is like a hot zone? We may not have snow and sleet and weather appropriate to the seasons, but it DOES get cold here. It’s not always shorts, tanks and flip flop-weather here. Jeez! We don’t live in the Earth’s core!
