Playful Chef Kids Cooking Kit from The Chocolate Cake Club
I’m a big fan of kids working alongside parents in the kitchen. It’s a great way to bond with your child, great for teaching them science and math (using measuring), will help your child learn how to follow directions, and can just be pure fun! Cooking with children encourages better nutrition (if your child makes the food, then they will definitely want to eat it!). You’re going to want to check out the Playful Chef Kids Cooking Kit ($42.95) by The Chocolate Cake Club, which comes in a cute vinyl backpack for easy toting or storing. It’s appropriate for children ages 3 to 10. Though, with supervision, I used it with my 2 year old.
Features include:
I tested it out with my two year old son. He loved using it for pretend play and really, really loved the kid-sized mixing bowl – but if you asked him, he was "mixing trucks and buses" - not food. I liked that I could clean it easily in my dishwasher. I expect in a few months, he will "help" me in the kitchen with it. I think this is a really practical and fun present. I know that it will get a lot of use in my house – especially since we just renovated our kitchen and now finally have enough counter space to work!
The Chocolate Cake Club, Inc. was created by mom Sue Kirchner. According to the website, Sue’s goal was "to create a company that will be a trusted source for products to help busy families ease stress by organizing their busy lifestyle, encouraging kids to be more self-sufficient, maintaining strong family bonds even across distances, and finding must-have gifts and parenting products. We have searched high and low to find the best and highest quality parenting tools and unique gifts so you don’t have to. Many of our products are made by Moms and craftsmen." They have lots of great products for you to check out this holiday season.
