Patrick Dempsey talks about the Quaid newborns' health scare and family holiday plans

12/07/2007 at 04:01 PM ET

Grey’s Anatomy actor, Patrick Dempsey, 41, opened up to Entertainment Tonight in an interview set to air December 10. As a father of twin sons, Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, 10 months and daughter Tullulah Fyfe, 5, Patrick understood how scary Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins’ recent health crisis was. He said:

There’s nothing worse than hearing your child is going to go through something like that. The person that administered that shot has got to feel terrible. Medical science is not perfect and that’s a real tragedy. Hopefully they will recover, but only time will tell.

Patrick also talked a little about his family’s upcoming holiday plans saying:

We’re going back home to Maine and hopefully have a white Christmas. It’s the first Christmas with the boys, they’ll be walking by then, so we’re excited.

However, with his family trip out East, he and his wife, Jillian, will not be able to attend costar Katherine Heigl’s wedding on December 23. Patrick commented about the upcoming wedding:

I’m going to be in Maine, but am so happy for her. I’ve never seen her so happy. He’s a great guy too and they are a great couple.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
