Are you sure that is Kate? It doesn’t really look like her.
Cute little guy though

can that boy walk I see them carry him everywhere or he in a stroller let him walk

- Ari on

Ryder is so cute. He has the face of an angel. I’ve seen those pants on him before, they must be a favorite– or maybe his PJ’s.

Amanda- I’ve seen pictures of her without makeup and she does look a lot different with and without it…pretty both ways but different I’d say.

- Julie on

She looks a bit different. Not much make up and maybe a bit cold. Gorgeous as always.

What I’d like to know is why Ryder is almost never seen walking? He’s either in a stroller or being carried.

Kate and ryder look cute, and it’s nice chris and kate get along well for their son

Dont wanna sound rude but tie that child*s hair for God*s sake! he*s having such a hard time trying to move it away from he*s face but his hands are covered too! =S or maybe the coat*s so thick his hands wont reach his face?

This is a lovely family photo. Even though Kate and Chris are divorced, they still are doing something together with their son.

I’ve seen people comment on this topic before in the past and thought “whatever”. I think I finally agree now. Let the boy walk on his own.

- J on

I never would have guessed that was Kate?!

Hea–I was wondering the same thing. I have never seen that kid walking…

- Stef on

Hea and J….I see your point, but keep in mind that they live in New York City AND they are followed by paps. Granted, they probably don’t have nearly as many paps following them as other celebs who are either more famous or more interesting to the media, such as the Jolie-Pitts, do.

However, paps or not, New York is one place that isn’t exactly very kid-friendly when it comes to walking. I mean, even most adults find it tiring walking in a city that size. Now try to imagine all that walking from a three-year-old’s perspective!

I’m guessing that Kate and Chris just find it easier and faster to carry Ryder or put him in a stroller. In any case, if he really wanted to walk, he’d be struggling to get out of Kate’s arms.

He walks plenty of times, but sometimes they carry him or he is in the stroller. He’s not 7 or 8, so why is this an issue with some people? Besides, it’s not our kid and they have the right to carry their own child if they want to and I don’t it’s fair for us to judge whether they are right or wrong for not following your own ideas for raising a child

They are most likely trying to walk fast to get away from the cameras and that’s why he’s being carried. Look at how close up this shot is, and if there’s one camera, there’s more. People don’t think about the other side of the lens and how many shouty people there can be there. It is scary for children.

I’m sure he walks just fine when he’s not surrounded by hoards of people.

Just because the picture looks up close and personal, it doens’t mean that the photog is that close to them. They zoom. Sometimes I see them snapped out walking. Doesn’t look like too many people around and they are still pushing him around. A kid his age needs to move around. I’m sure he does that at home and I don’t think it’s wrong to carry small kids. I do it every day in my line of work. But I let them walk too. I even let 20 kids around the age of 3-4 walk around the city. Of course with me and 2 other adults with them. I know they can and I know that it makes them feel responsible and a bit proud walking with their teacher or their friend.

- Hea on

I think it looks like Kate…although I thought I saw a picture of Chris a few months ago with a new girlfriend who looked like Kate. I could be going crazy though.

I’d carry my child also on a busy N.Y. city street. And they are crossing the street and it’s night time. Kate is one of favorite actresses. I love seeing the united front.

She treats Ryder like a girl
