Update: Jennifer Weiner welcomes second daughter; introducing Phoebe Pearl Bonin

Author Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes, Good in Bed, Little Earthquakes) and her husband Adam Bonin, 34, welcomed their second daughter this morning at 11:04 am. Phoebe Pearl was born in Philadelphia, PA, weighs 7 lbs, and joins big sister Lucy Jane, 4 ½. Jennifer said,

We’re ecstatic!

The couple announced the pregnancy in July, and had been due next week. Jennifer, 37, has been blogging about her pregnancy — Phoebe had been breech but turned last week. Of the experience, Jennifer wrote,

The flip from head-up to head-down was one of themost disconcerting sensations of my life. One minute I was just drivingaround in the minivan. The next minute my abdomen went rigid. I figuredit was either a Braxton-Hicks contraction, or acontraction-contraction, and that either way, it would stop after aminute or two…except it didn’t.

The pain got worse, and I startedfeeling nauseous, and then it would ease up slightly, then start again. This went on for more than an hour, and I finally called my doctor eventhough I wasn’t sure what was going on other than that I was feelingextremely uncomfortable, but by the time I heard back the pain had goneaway.

So far, she is a very good baby who looks, and behaves, an awful lot like her big sister (which is funny to think that my husband and I have the capacity to create just one kind of baby, and this is it).

Congratulations to Jennifer and her family. I know she was struggling with names and I think Phoebe is a perfect pairing for Lucy. I love her books and am looking so forward to the new one next year.

I remember when my daughter was trying to turn from a breech position (however, she never turned). It felt like I was seasick. Congratulations to Jennifer, I have read all of her books.

My daughter is named Lucy and my second daughter, due in February, will be named Phoebe! I was so excited to see this post…nice to know that another family thinks the two names go together well!

I LOVE Jennifer Weiner’s books! Congrats to her and her expanding family. I think her best book is “Little Earhquakes” … only a mom could write a book like that!
