Brooke Shields' chic city shower for Kim Raver

Kimflowers_3 When Brooke Shields hosted a baby shower for friend and Lipstick Jungle cast mate Kim Raver, she knew it had to be extra special and had to to reflect Kim’s chic sense of style and commitment to earth friendly products. So Brooke enlisted the help of lifestyle guru/celebrity party planner Colin Cowie to plan and style the event. She also turned to Svan of Sweden for help rounding up some of the products that fit Kim’s style to a tee.

The shower was held at night in Brooke’s Manhattan loft. Guests were greeted by a single large stunning floral arrangement on the buffet table. Votive candles and linens in the jewel toned theme colors of purple and green, gave the party a unique sophisticated ambiance and elegance – just perfect for Kim. The twinkling lights of the city viewed through Brooke’s oversized windows served as the ultimate backdrop for the small intimate gathering of friends.

Kimcookies_3    Since the party was held at the cocktail hour and had an adult theme, guests were served cocktails and mocktails and an assortment of delectable treats. Everything was simple and elegantly presented. A variety of soups, served in tiny glass teacups, was a unique idea that was a hit with all the guests. Shower attendees also helped themselves to a lavish spread of breads, crackers, exotic cheeses and vegetables with dip, arranged artfully on the buffet. Desserts included chocolate gelato scooped into coffee cups, biscotti and adorable cookies shaped like mini Svan highchairs.

Kim became interested in the Svan of Sweden line when she heard about their products from pals Brooke Shields and Mariska Hargitay. The modern shapes, practical and simple designs and commitment to earth friendly manufacturing were just the sort of things she was looking for as she prepared for the arrival of her second son, Leo.

Amongst the goodies that Kim got were a Svan Bouncer in vanilla/sage, a Svan Highchair in mahogany, a Cariboo folding bassinet and Cariboo Earth PureTec blanket, and a Lillebaby tote.

As a special thoughtful touch, Brooke asked each guest to bring a charm for Kim and used these to create a charm tree, full of heartfelt keepsakes. Brooke’s girls also received some special goodies. Brooke’s host gift included a Svan Scooter and Vincent Shoes for her daughters.

Kim Raver’s son Leo Kipling was born on Oct 9th. Kim is married to filmmaker Manu Boyer and also has a 5 year old son, Luke West.

The shower photos are awesome. I absolutely love to throw parties and will be keeping in mind some of these ideas when I throw my next bash. I love the clean containers for the veggies and the circular buffet arrangement.
I received several Svan products when my daughter was born, and I must say, I am not at all impressed by them. I really like how sleek and modern they are, but other than that, I’m not a fan.
For anyone interested, the high chair tray is way too small, especially if I am keeping my DD in there to play for a few minutes. Also, the fabric seat is a huge PITA. Plan on washing it every day once your child starts eating on their own.
The bouncy seat, also great looking, was another let down. The seat did not recline far enough back to keep my DD comfortable. Also, her long legs would kick the wood part of the base, causing some ouchies.

My first thought, when I saw that scooter the other day, was how actually unsafe it looks. Wonder how many bloody lips occur trying to figure out how to enjoy or play with it? !

Ciaran’s Note: Safety is Scandinavian Child’s number one focus when bringing in a product to the US. They go above and beyond for safety testing on the products and participate on the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) Board of Directors. They are also members of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) which sets safety standards. The scooter meets ASTM F963, a safety standard for ride-on toys. I would feel quite confident allowing my young child to ride on this scooter!

I love Kim and am so excited about her new show that’s coming out. I actually have the Svan Bouncer so how cool to have the same product as her! (And I LOVE mine, as does my 5 month old.)

I am a huge fan of the Svan products Kim received at her shower (along with some of the Cariboo and lillebaby products as well). As a mother of 4 I have had ample opportunity to try many products out there and I cannot say enough about the Svan High Chair (I have 3 of them). My 5 year old has used his since he was 6 months old. We love the sleek look and functional design (converts to a booster seat and an adult chair) as well as the fact that it is safety certified. The tray can be removed (or stored on the back of the chair) and even a 6 month old can join the family at the dinner table. The chair provides ergonomic support to children from infant and up. Keeping children comfortable at the table helps to keep them focused on their meal and developing conversational skills. The Svan High Chair is also easy to clean. The wood wipes clean with a damp cloth, the plastic tray cover is dishwasher safe and the cushions are machine washable – honestly what could be easier?
As for the scooter – I wish I had three of them. My 5 year old and 3 year old twins fight over this ride on toy – which glides from carpet to hardwoods to tile without a scratch and the unique bentwood design forces children to use their imagination. I also have the Svan mini furniture set – which is perfect for sitting with my little ones to do all sorts of preschool-aged projects.
With the recent arrival of my 4th baby I received a Cariboo Classic Bassinet and a gorgeous pink baby star bag – I love it and so does my little one – its just beautiful (and looks so much better than the pack and play I used with my first son). I also received a EuroTote and this is one product I wonder how I ever survived without. I can carry my baby everywhere with style and so much more comfort than lugging those infant car seat carriers. I love that it can go from home to car seat to stroller or grocery cart or basically any where I need to go and baby stays nestled and comfortable.
I really cannot say enough great things about these product lines – Svan, Cariboo and lillebaby – they make fabulous, well-designed, safe, beautiful products which grow with your children and make your life as a parent easier – what could be better? No wonder Kim wanted to be showered with these wonderful products!

I’d say Brooke really knows how to throw a party! It looks beautiful from the pix. And what great gifts too! I have the Svan high chair and scooter, as well as a ton of Vincent shoes and we love them! The furniture is such high quality, and looks great in your home. . . you don’t have to sacrifice style for fun or safety. Everyone that comes to the house adores the high chair and scooter. And my youngest has a shoe fetish, so he alternates between 3 or 4 pairs of Vincents every day! I highly recommend both product lines!
