I really hate to post this because it makes me sound like a you know what, but every now and then, we need to post a reminder of the site’s ground rules. For the vast majority of the readers, these items are a non-issue but since as the site gets more and more popular, we learn more and more about people infringing our rights.
The Celebrity Baby Blog isthe product of countless hours of hard work and it is very important tome that the value of the original content is protected. Everything you seeon the Celebrity Baby Blog (www.celebrity-babies.com, www.celebritybabyblog.com, celebritybabies.typepad.com and all sub-domains) is copyright Celebrity Baby Blog Inc. in the year that it was firstpublished. (In the case of third-party contributors and celebrity photos, they retain thecopyright.)

First of all, thanks for caring enough to read this.
The Celebrity Baby Blogis a private website owned and run by Danielle Friedland, publisher, and president of Celebrity Baby Blog Inc. As such, we have the right to setground rules for the site.
We love when other sites and messageboards link to our articles. Feelfree to post brief abstracts of the original posts — the shorter thebetter. Please limit your excerpt to one paragraph at the most (or evenless if the original is only one paragraph long) AND link to the CBBclearly, through the use of the words "Celebrity Baby Blog" or"www.celebrity-babies.com."
Wholesalecut-and-paste reproductions of entire posts are strictly prohibited andwill taken very seriously. We spend a lot of time researching and writing our posts and it actually costs us money- we pay all of our writers. Copying and pasting our text (even with a credit), is called copyright infringement, and it’s illegal. Infringements can be very expensive — as in punitive damages and legal fees.
If you find a story via the Celebrity Baby Blog, we ask that you notonly link to that original source but also reference that you found thestory through us. Way too many sites find a story on the CBB and thenonly link to the original source (or not at all), pretending as if theyfound the story themselves. There’s nothing to lose by crediting us-you show your readers that you are a considerate blogger who knows howto give credit where credit is due. Here’s a suggestion: Source:People (via Celebrity Baby Blog).
Even more egregious are the sites which seek to confusepeople with the use of the words "celebrity" and "baby/babies" in the URL and/or designschemes that mimic those of the original site.
Use of RSS Feeds
RSS is a free service offered by the Celebrity Baby Blogfor non-commercial use. Any other uses, including without limitationthe incorporation of advertising into or the placement of advertisingassociated with or targeted towards the RSS Content, are strictlyprohibited. You must use the RSS feeds as provided by the Celebrity Baby Blog, and you maynot edit or modify the text, content or links supplied by the Celebrity Baby Blog.
It’s a very easything to get a website or blog shut down (and the content deleted) bydemonstrating to the ISP and/or host that one of their publishers isflagrantly infringing copyright. (If they do not shut you down, theyare liable, too.) Please don’t make me do that. And if you are scraping CBB with a Made-For-Adsense-type site, you go to the front of the line.
"Borrowing" our images
We frequently receive email asking We pay a lot of money (in the 4 digits) to license the celebrity photosfrom photo agencies we run on the site. We have been forced towatermark them with our site name because we discovered many sitestaking them for their own use. Even with the watermark, it is stillnot ok for you to take them to use. Please don’t email us asking to use the image on your site, because we cannot grant you this because we don’t own the image- we merely license it for use on CBB. The original copyright remains with the
If you would like to run theimages on your blog, business’s site or use in your company’s mediakit, please click through the photo credit under each photo and contactthe photo agencies. Let them know you found the photos on CBB and theymay give you a better deal.
On the other hand, if we see our photos on your site, we won’t hesitate to let the photo agency know.
Similarly, please do not link directly to our photos. If you post to a message board or website, please link to the post instead of linking photos. You can do this by clicking "Permalink" underneath the photo, andcopying the address that appears in the window, then pasting it at theforum where you would like to share the pictures.
We don’t participate in link exchanges. If you’d like to link to us, please go ahead but if we participated in every link exchange offered, our blogroll would be go down the block. If you’ve written a post that you think we’d be interested in, feel free to let us know about it.
We encourage open dialogue but inevitably things get out of controlso we ask that you keep your comments relevant to the post and refrainfrom making nasty remarks about anyone- the celebrities and theirchildren, the staff of the Celebrity Baby Blog, other readers, andanyone, in general. You are free to agree or disagree with each other, but please do so respectfully. The general rule of thumb is: if you would not feel comfortable saying it to the person’s face, don’t post it.
Comments are moderated, and will not appear on this weblog until thesite staff has approved them. We do not tolerate any type of discrimination in thediscussions, including but not limited to racism, ageism, heterosexism, classism, religiousbigotry, or discrimination toward the disabled. We will not hostdiscussions that involve explicit sexual references and are cautiousabout discussions on volatile topics such as abortion, religion, andrace. Generally, anything that starts with, "I’m sorry but…" or "No offensebut…" tends to end in an insult so keep that in mind when composing acomment. If you’re not sure if something you are posting is allowed, just don’t post it.
Any comments that include the following will be deleted. If we find it happening repeatedly, that commenter may be banned from posting further comments.
- advertising, inflammatory remarks (intentional or otherwise)
- anything that insults the owner or staff of the site
- anything that insults readers of the site
- anything that insults anyone featured on the site (including celebrities, their children, advertisers, etc.)
Please don’t complain that it’s censorship. It’s not- censorship iswhen the government tells people what they can and can’t say or do. Asfar as freedom of speech goes, it only applies to public areas and the Celebrity Baby Blog is not a public area. It may be a publicly-accessible website where anyone can readit, but this website belongs to me, so it’s not a public area. Therefore, Imake the decision about what can and can’t be said or done here. It would be lovely if people didn’t insult each other but apparently, we all have different definitions of what is insulting so I had to draw a line in the sand. It’s important to be that the Celebrity Baby Blog be a positive, fun and informational place to discuss celebrities, children, and parenting. So while you don’t have the right to say whatever you want on the site, you have the right to click off of the site if youdon’t like it, or don’t like these rules.
If you have a comment for the author of the post orthe publisher of the site, please email that person (the author’s nameis listed at the bottom of each post) instead of leaving a comment.(Email their name @celebrity-babies.com.)
This is not a rule… just a favor. Before youemail us asking us if we have any photos or news on a particular celeb, look for it first. You can search the site by using the Google Searchon the left side of the page. If you don’t see anything, then we don’thave it.
