Yesterday I was at Best Buy looking on Los Feliz Boulevard, which is technically in the city of Glendale while I was shopping for a USB cable, and I nearlybumped into Nicole Richie.She is deeply tan and hugely pregnant. She was wearing cute shoes thathad really tall stilettos.Joel was there, and they were buying some kind of gear in the computer department, near the Mac stuff.
Nicole Ritchie is not deeply tanned, she is african american!

actually she is NOT african american. she was adopted by the Lionel Richie, who is African-American, but she herself is biologically Mexican.

Nicole from her bio parents is mexican, white, and has a little black in her. But she is not just african american.

Susan and Laurie both of you are partially correct. Nicole’s biological father is reportedly Peter Escovedo III. As for her biological mother, her name has never been publicaly stated other than she was a Black woman that was an assistant to Lionel Ritchie’s band. Peter raised her pretty much by himself before she was adopted by Lionel.
(It’s obvious that Peter is Latin, but this is the first time I am hearing of him being Mexican. Escovedo sounds more like an Equadorian name or even Puerto Rican)
So I guess to end the debate, she is indeed biracial: Half Black/ Half Latin.

Her bio mother is black hispanic from the donimican republic. and her father is mexican.

She self identifies as a black woman. I think we should respect her wishes.

but ive never heard her “self identify” as any particular race. every time ive ever seen the subject brought up with her, she avoids answering it.

Actually Laurie if you ever watched the simple life or her interview with Tyra Banks. she clearly says she is black; several times. She looks black/spanish in her baby pictures.

Why the obsession with race?
Even though she has darker skin naturally, she can still look tanned. I think we even saw some tanlines in a photo a while back.
