David Beckham says boys are developing an American accent

David and Victoria Beckham, 33, moved their family to the United States four months ago and it appears that their sons are now starting to sound a little American. The 32-year-old dad to Brooklyn Joseph, 8 1/2, Romeo James, 5, and Cruz David, 2 1/2, stated,

They sound as if they are from London –- and that is how I want them to sound. But they are getting little parts of an American accent. Romeo keeps saying ‘Awesome’ a lot. ‘Awesome, awesome.’

I’ve been a big fan of Mr. Beckham and his wife but…..seeing the TMZ footage of him blowing off the child cancer survivors changed that. Those poor kids were crushed and bawling…check it out guys before this gets completely ignored. I think how he treated those children is dispicable…..

He should use some of his millions to pay everybody who comes in contact with his kids to talk with fake British accents. Buy them all bowler hats and monocles and make them stop brushing their teeth. Or he could just go back where he came from.

That’s a bit pretentious. “Awesome” isn’t an American word.

Awesome may not be an American word, but it is used here as American slang.

TOTALLY AWESOME.

I guess it’s only natural that the Beckham boys’ accents will get a little “americanised” – it would be interesting to know if Brooklyn ever had a bit of a spanish/european type accent when they lived in Spain? I’m guessing the younger boys (especially Cruz) would have been a bit young back then. BTW over the “awesome” thing – you’d have to hear them say it to know if they were saying it in an american way wouldn’t you?
