Patrick Dempsey rules out more children

11/26/2007 at 02:17 AM ET

Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey claimed he and his wife of seven years, Jill, decided not to have any more children. The couple have a five year old daughter, Tallulah Fyfe, and a set of twin boys, Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, born in February of this year, but Patrick said at age 41, he’s “too old” to have anymore children.

We’ve discussed it, but we’re too old for that. I’ll be like, 65, and still changing diapers – I can’t do that!

I think 3 is a nice size family, not too big and not too small IMO.

Yes but he is NOT old at all to have children, jeez, how many men are parents even older, and when I say older I mean older! LOL 41…ah it’s young.

Ana, it is most probably a personal thing to say that he is too old to be having children now because he has a life planned for after the children have grown and left home.

I am 31 and have a 9 year old and 5 year old and I personally feel that I am too old to be having more babies because I had my children young I would like to do things that I couldn’t when they are older and have left home ie traveling.

It is a personal thing to decide if you want any more children or not and whether you feel that you are getting too old to have any more. He should not be criticized for his personal opinion!

Ana its personal choice. I personally will not still be having kids after 40. I think its too old. If Patrick thinks this way also, then so be it :)

My husband had the same idea as Patrick, but luckily I convinced him that it he is really not that old, and we have a 2 year old, 7 month old, and a child due in July, when he will turn 45 in February.

Hey guys, I wasn’t criticizing, I was just giving my opinion, not saying that his opinion was wrong. I also didn’t say “hey Patrick have another baby”! In such a way I wrote a “LOL”. You’re putting a sense in what I wrote that I didn’t mean or said.
All I said is that in my opinion being 41 is young to be a dad, a really normal age. BUT I didn’t say he shouldn’t think the way he does or anything. It up to each person/couple to decide. But as you said you think a 41 may not want to have kids, I can say I think a 41 may have children!

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
