Sophie Ellis-Bextor: 'I've never felt happier or healthier'
Despite concerns from some that she’s gone overboard with her weight-loss regimen following the birth of her son Sonny, 3 1/2, singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor says that "it took a good year after I had Sonny to get back into the frocks I used to wear." Added Sophie,
I’ve never felt happier or healthier, I don’t think I’m too thin. The only people I listen to are my mum and friends and they haven’t made any worried noises at me. I think it’s bloody brilliant actually. I had a baby and I spent a lot of hours at the gym trying to feel like I owned myself again. If people have noticed I’ve lost weight, then I’m happy about it.
The 28-year-old, married to Richard Jones, admits that balancing motherhood and a career is "complicated."
But I’m not the first working mother and I’ve got lots of support. Also, I’m very lucky that I can bring him along to work with me and I take advantage of that.
Sophie says she’d like to give Sonny a little brother or sister, if the conditions are right.
I’d love to have more kids, but it’s a matter of fitting it in. If I could be pregnant at home and not have to go to work that would be ideal. Last time I was pregnant I felt like hibernating, it was a really private time.
Sophie and Richard have been married since 2005.
