Jessica Rowe says Dancing with the Stars helped teach daughter 'to be courageous'

11/16/2007 at 03:49 PM ET

Australian television journalist and presenter, Jessica Rowe, 37, recently spoke out about her experience on Australia’s Dancing with the Stars. Jessica was the fourth celebrity voted off of the reality series a few weeks ago. She opened up about her battle with postpartum depression saying:

Earlier this year when I had postnatal depression I wondered if I’d ever leave the house. To actually dance on national TV makes me feel like I’ve won already. One reason I did the show was to teach my daughter, Allegra, to be courageous and I feel I’ve done that. Now I’m just excited to have the chance to spend more time with my girl.

Jessica and her husband, Peter Overton, have one daughter together, Allegra Penelope Overton, almost 10 months.

Mom Said It

"It helps that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant. So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision."
