Henry Moder to be introduced on Oprah next week

The wait is over, CBB readers – Julia Roberts will introduce her 5-month-old son Henry Daniel by showing a photo on Oprah on Monday. The 40-year-old actress will be on the show in promotion of her new film, Charlie Wilson’s War. She said,

There’s been a lot of curiosity. There’s not been a picture of him. I thought I would just show everybody.

so she doesn’t want paps taking pics of her kids, but she doesn’t mind using her son to promote her new film? seems like a double standard to me.

So cool! I am so happy to see pics of Julia’s new baby.

- Cindy on

I think she dislikes her walks with her children turning into photo ops, with people running around putting cameras in their faces, but she doesn’t mind sitting in a chair on the oprah and holding her son in her lap so everyone can see him. I seriously doubt that Julia Roberts would need to use her baby to make people see her movies.

- Jenny on

I think a lot of celebs do that. They hate their kids being photographed but love to make themselves look very family oriented.

- Natasha on

I don’t think she’s using him to promote the new film.

- Breanne on

alexp- Who says she’s using her son to promote her new film? True, she is going to be promoting her new film when she is on Oprah. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s going to use her son to do so.

It sounds to me like the main reason she is showing him is because she knows that people are curious and want to see him.

That said, even if she IS using him to promote her film (and I doubt that, since Julia doesn’t seem like the type of mom who would use her kids), I don’t necessarily think that it’s a double standard.

After all, by showing him on Oprah, she is the one controlling when and how he’s going to be shown. When the paps take pictures of celebrity babies, THEY are the ones in control. Personally, I don’t blame Julia and other celebs for disliking it when the paps take pics of their kids. If I had kids, I wouldn’t want cameras being shoved in their faces all the time either!

I also want to add that I am surprised that it’s taken her this long to introduce Henry. With Hazel and Finn, she did a spread in People magazine when they were two or three months old (and I’m guessing she probably would have done it even sooner had the twins not been born prematurely and thus had to spend some time in the NICU). I wonder why she’s waited so long with Henry?

- Annoyomus on

Annoyomus – If she truly wanted her children to have privacy, then she wouldn’t take them on Oprah for everyone to see. Not to mention the fact that nobody’s seen him since his birth, but now that her film is coming out, she’s decided that now is a good time.

I don’t really care one way or the other, but she made a point of saying that there is no reason for people to take pics of celebrity kids other than for people to be able to look at them and say “oh, they’re cute”. Well then, what’s the purpose of bringing him on Oprah other than for us to say, “oh, he’s cute”!

- alexp on

Funny, but I hadn’t given the fact that I hadn’t seen Julia’s new baby a second thought!

- Chicki on

Ohh I can’t wait to see what color hair he has!

- greenmtx on

I didn’t even know she had him yet!

- Poshie T on

I can’t wait to see what he looks like! I’m soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!

- Mariam on

ITA, Alexp.

For someone who made a point to say how much the cameras bother her in her Vanity Fair piece, I find her actions contradictory.

Does she really care if *I* want to see her kid(s)? If we were friends, I can see her point. No Thanksgiving dinner invite arrived, so I am to assume we are not that close. ;)

- Principesa on

Oprah’s running out of ideas. Introducing a baby nobody is really thinking about? I’m sure he’s “so cute” and we all “can’t wait to see him because he’s our favorite actresses son’, but cmon…

- J on

it says she’s showing a PHOTO. i don’t know if he’s actually gonna be there in the flesh.

- ang on

Funny she is so private, but when she has a movie to promote time to show the baby on oprah lol. Celebrities are so obvious, I totally forget we hadn’t seen her kid and didn’t give it much thought lol.

- gianna on

eh. Mom’s like to show off their kids, I do! If Oprah would let me pimp out my kid to show how adorable she is, I would in a heartbeat.

But that is totally different then trying to take a walk down the street and being mobbed by photographers. It is a total invasion of privacy for both Julia, but the kids. Unless you have seen it in person (living in LA, I see it all the time)- it is insanity.

As much as I love hearing out cute my kids are, NOBODY wants to walk from Starbucks to your car with 20 people making a mob around you snapping pictures of you or your kid.

Showing a picture on Oprah is a proud mom showing off her kid…. getting mobbed in the streets while running errands is annoying, an invasion of privacy and wrong.

You guys critizing her really can’t see the difference?

- CaGirl on

CaGirl- Thank you! That is exactly what I was trying to explain earlier! I also want to point out that it’s not like Julia has been hiding Henry and is suddenly showing him now that she has a movie to promote. We have already seen at least two pictures of him. In one, all we could see was his hand poking out of a sling, and in the other, he appeared to be in a Baby Bjorn or similar carrier. He was facing Julia, so we only saw the back of him. In otherwords, we just haven’t seen his face yet. :)

That said….Do you honestly think that someone as famous as Julia Roberts really NEEDS to use her baby to promote her movie? I mean, she’s famous enough that she doesn’t really need to do much of anything to promote her movies.

It’s just like when people were accusing Tom Cruise of using Suri to promote his movies and boost his career. Tom is either an A-list actor or practically an A-list actor (I can’t remember which). Therefore, he doesn’t need to do anything to boost his career or promote his movies.

- Annoyomus on

It’s not like Julia has never shown pictures of her kids on Oprah before. Some of the first photos of the twins were shown on Oprah’s show. I for one am looking forward to seeing a picture of Henry as well as Julia on Oprah – she’s always an entertaining guest.

- Emma on

I probably won’t see the show, but I can’t wait to see pictures of her baby. The criticism is ridiculous, she has has every right to decide how, when, and if she’ll show her child publically.

- terri on

This probably won’t get posted… But I need to say it anyway. I think I’m over you and so are many others…. You are going to introduce Henry by ‘showing a photo on Oprah?’ Come on… Get over yourself. Your fans would have a lot more respect for you if you admitted (we’re not asking you to be a poster child) that you had trouble conceiving and did ivf to have the twins and Henry… Instead, you are aloof about the whole thing and your responses are along the lines of ‘twins run in my family.’ Missed opportunity for you Miss Julia… I struggled with infertility for years and I also have 2-year-old twins, but instead of being ashamed that I conceived them through ivf I share my experience… Think of the impact you could make by sharing your experience instead of denying it…

- Melissa Banks on

I love Julia. From what we’ve seen she’s a good person and mother.I’m thrilled she will share a glimpse of her newest baby with us. We have watched her grow up in movies. Seen her love life take many different turns. So in away she’s like distant family. I may never meet her personally but I do care.

- angelaminx on

I’m surprised people are upset about this…especially since we are on a celebrity baby blog..which means we do like seeing celebrity babies….or at least I thought most of us did LOL
