Amy Brenneman says motherhood changed her 'in every possible way'

Although Amy Brenneman was content to be a nursing, full-time stay-at-home mom after the cancellation of Judging Amy in 2005, she says it was ultimately the child-friendly atmosphere on the set of Private Practice that lured her back to the small screen.  Each day, Amy brings her 2 1/2-year-old son Bodhi with her to work, while husband Brad Silberling takes their 6-year-old daughter Charlotte to kindergarten.

Motherhood, the 43-year-old actress says, has been a revelation.

My life changed in every possible way down to my cellular level when Charlotte was born, then heightened when Bodhi came along.  I’m now a different person who feels vulnerable for the first time in her life.  I’d always been an invincible kind of gal.  A friend of mine puts that love for my kids this way:  ‘It’s like having your heart walk around outside your body.’

Amy and Brad have been married since 1995.
