Christina Aguilera's $15,000 shopping spree

Christina_aguilera_nomiBack on October 31, we posted about Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman’s time spent shopping at NoMi in Los Angeles. Little did we know that on that particular trip she spent $15,000 on baby items. Among the many items purchased were two Bla Bla Clementine dolls ($47 each).Orbitbabyca

She also joined the Orbit Baby revolution, and bought a black infant system ($900). Other Orbit Baby devotees include Tori Spelling, Marcia Cross and Heidi Klum to name a few.

Bloombaby was an easy choice for the expectant parents as they went with the Bloombaby Plexistyle Lounger ($350) with a black chair pad and the Bloombaby High Chair ($400).

CakesocietycaChecked off her list was a diaper bag, as she went for three of them, all Petunia Pickle Bottom pieces. Jordan opted for the Scout Rubicon Rucksack ($235) in brown buffalo leather while Christina went for the more girly Cake Society Satchel  ($325) in midnight with matching Cameo Clutch ($105). Christina also picked up a Bumble Bags Madeline changing kit ($48) to round out her diapering needs.

DucducmorgancribShe also did some nursery decorating with a Monte Luca Glider Chair in brown ($895) and matching ottoman ($385) as well as the Argington Fuji Toy Box ($420). Her nursery furniture of choice was all from Ducduc and part of the Morgan line, including a crib ($2,450), armoire ($2195) and changing table ($2,800).

I am not trying to be rude, but that is the ugliest crib I have ever seen.

- Sara on

sara,it looks a bit like a storage system/lighting system to me..vs. a crib

(but what do i know,we co-sleep ;) )

- M on

With those particular choices in nursery furniture I think that she really is having a boy. Too masculine in my opinion for a girl.

- Carrie on

I’m honestly disgusted at celebs who spend that amount on ‘sprees’. I mean, jeez- think of where all that money could have gone and done some actual good.

- sian on

I am not a fan of her nursery furniture, but I just love her diaper bag.

- Tarsha on

I love the crib- at least it’s not some mammoth thing designed by fisher price with ugly underwater decals on it.

It’s stylish with a mod “tiki” feel to it. Would go really well with some haywood-wakefield furniture, I think it’s wonderful.

Finally a crib with some STYLE unlike the majority of the baby stuff out there!

- Marilou on

Even if I could easily afford it, I really wonder if I could spend that much money on things like a bouncer or a stroller. I just seems so impractical. Are they really worth so much money?

- Michelle on

I’ve seen those cribs before, and honestly they look more like cages than cribs, to me.

- Michelle on

This is their first child, are obviously very excited about his arrival and have the money so I see no reason why they shouldn’t spend that much.

- Cindy on

First of all, it’s not just celeb who spend lavishly during sprees. Our nursery cost a pretty penny and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Second, I don’t see what the big deal. It’s her hard earned money so she should spend it however she chooses to without judgement. None of us knows how much of her money she chooses to give to charity or how much she uses for “actual good,” as someone above suggested. Since it is money well spent on her child’s nursery I am sure in her mind it’s doing some good. This is one of the reasons why I am glad I am not a celeb. I appreciate the fact that I can spend my money however I choose to without random people waving a finger and suggesting they know what’s best and how it should be spent.

- lizzielui on

Compared to other celebs she really didn’t spend that much. I mean nursery furniture, travel system etc. are expensive items anyway. It’s not like she blew 15,000 on rattles!

- Poshie T on

Who cares how much she spent? It’s her money, not ours?

On another note…I don’t have any kids, but I totally just bought myself one of those monkeys. They are just TOO cute!!

- Kristie on

Gosh I wish I had that kind of money! I’d love to have one of those Orbit stroller/carseat deals next time around.

I do think it sounds like this baby’s a boy, just from her purchases. I think she’d be buying much more delicate & girly things if she were expecting a girl. Either way, I can’t wait to see this baby!!!!

- Amanda on

This is why I feel the need to whine, bitch and complain when celebrities receive gift baskets and such. They don’t need gifts and freebies. Of course, these gifts also double as promotions for the gift givers, but seriously, why not donate to someone who needs a little help, in the name of the celebrity, instead.

- daisy on

It’s her money you guys :)

(I just hope that if she has more children after this…that she re uses all these things :D )

- Nikki on

hmm – i found it very easy to spend that much money on a stroller… but then again – everyone here has an orbit.

- meghan on

Christina works hard for her money, and the same way she buys nice cars, clothes, homes for herself, why wouldn’t she spend the money on her first baby. What’s the point of havng so much money, and working from young like she has, if you can’t spend it on yourself and your loved ones. I see nothing wrong with it, because I like to buy the best stuff already, if I was as rich as her I wouldn’t even think of prives for my child. And yea I think it’s a baby boy too

- gianna on

New celebrity cribjail. Keep your baby safe. That is one ugly looking crib!

- Daphne on

Wow, to go shopping and then have your purchases itemized for all to see, one of those annoying areas of being a celeb. I agree that CA has worked very hard her whole life, this is her first baby, so I personally don’t care how MUCH she spends. What I’m not really understanding is BUYING SO MUCH when she could probably get most everything she chose at one of her 3 baby showers. Oh, and that is an unusual crib. It’s hard to tell about pieces of furniture by themselves w/out seeing them in the context of the finished room.

- Campbell on

Its always interesting to hear people comment on other people’s money. She earned it and she can spend it anyway she wants. There’s nothing wrong with spending that type on money for her baby, clothes, houses or whatever she chooses to spend it at.

- Jay on

meghan, where is “here”?

- Carrie on

Last I checked she worked hard to get her money and is spending it on her first child – not drug, alcohol, or various other things that people waste money on. To get “disgusted” at her is really a waste of time and petty. It’s her money to do with as she chooses and to her $15,000 isn’t a lot of money. When you have millions, it’s really nothing. Besides, do you know how much she donates to charity??? No, I’m sure you don’t. She might give millions to charity, so what’s $15,000 on furniture and baby stuff. Give her a break, stop being so judgemental, and just respect that she’s going to be a new mom celebrating the birth of her child.

- taylor on

here is los angeles… sorry. :)

- meghan on

you should look at the other options of colors for the crib. It does not specify that she got the ugly white/wood one… the darker ones are rather stunning!

It is her money for goodness sake!!!! He has worked her booty off to make that money, and has every right to spend it the way she deems fit.

- Sarah on

I just think the look on her face is priceless. It’s all “OhEmGee,I want THAT.” It’s classic mom-shopping-for-new-baby! :)

- Gabrielle on

I have to admit, I love the crib! I’m curious how it opens and seems lower to the ground and therefor easier to put a sleeping baby into (I’m short and find it hard to lift baby into a crib even when the rail is down) I think she made great choices and if she’s got the money then go for it! Buy the best you can girl, you only get a first child once!

- jenn on

I like everything that christina brought but I think she could have spent a littler amount of money because all the baby is going to do is grow out of it

- LINDA on

Linda- That’s true….But once that happens, she can put the stuff in storage to use for her next baby. :) Or, if she and Jordan decide not to have any more kids (which I don’t think will be the case), she can give the stuff to a relative or friend who’s expecting once her little boy grows out of it.

Also, with the exception of the lounger (which looks like it’s basically a fancy baby bouncer), the baby probably won’t grow out of most of the stuff for a couple of years. A few things, like the Toy Box, will even be able to be used throughout the baby’s childhood. And one or two items, such as the glider, are items that can be used and enjoyed even by adults. :)

I also want to point out that I don’t know of a single first-time mom who has not gone a little crazy buying stuff for her baby. :)

Finally, $15,000 is probably not much to someone like Christina. To us “ordinary” people, it seems like a huge amount, but to a celeb it’s probably almost nothing. :)

- Annoyomus on

Wow, that doll is so cute… if I had as much money as Christina I’d buy up the whole collection! (That and Hanna Andersson, too… those clothes are just too cute!)
