Awwwww… the baby looks just like Tommy! But don’t fret. I looked like my dad as a baby and then grew up to look a lot more like my mom. Thalia looks gorgeous as always. This size really works for her I must say. I remember her as a tiny teen, now she is a gorgeous woman.

Beautiful baby and family.

Can someone explain to me why Hispanic children have their mother’s surname following their father’s name? I’ve never quite understood it.

Thalia looks great for having a baby less than 2 months ago, and sabrina is so cute. Love how she is dressed too.

Madam Prince, I grew up in a south american country and we have our mothers last name adter our fathers because women don’t loose their name just because they got married they just add to it eg: Paula Torres Rodrigues marries Juan Perez Gonzales she becomes Paula Torres de Perez or Paula Torres Rodrigues de Perez. Loosing your moms name after you get married is personal choice , most women do because it becomes too long , some women don’t change the name at all , either way when you baby is born he or she has both last names children in my country that have only 1 last name is because their father didn’t recognize them as their own and so have only their moms last name but even then she can pick a random last name from a list so the child doesn’t grow up having this stigma on him of only having 1 last name. I hope this cleared it up for you . I Live in the uk now and only use 1 of my last names but if i went back it would go back to being 2.

Madame Pince,

I’m not sure if i understood your question, i think you mean why hispanic people use both dad and mom’s last name (surname) ?
Well, we use it both, I think is beautiful to have both parents last names, it’s fair
:-) I’m latin american, but we live in Italy, and my child was born here, (italian dad) and she uses just his surname, and that’s sad for me…but in Europe is like in U.S.A, just daddy’s last name.
Hope my answer helps :-)

Thalia and baby seem to be doing great!

To add to the other topic. Hispanics aren’t the only ones to keep both surnames. We do it here too, it’s just that here you add a hyphen like Thalia’s daughter would be Sabrina Sakaë Mottola-Sodi. However, it’s not as common.

Sabrina really does look like Tommy right now. Same hairline, chin, everything. Who knows, she could change in the matter of months. But, she’s cute! :)
