Update: Elisabeth and Tim Hasselbeck welcome son Taylor Thomas

Elisabethhasselbecktim_cbbUpdate: Elisabeth announced on The View today that the couple have named their new addition Taylor Thomas. Among the highlights:

  • She was in labor "forever…four or five thousand hours" and "pushed for 35 minutes which was better than the first time around."
  • Asked if she got an epidural, she said, "I did, but I think I’m immune to the epidural, because it didn’t work for me. That’s a problem."
  • Sherri asked, "Are you back to a size zero?" and if Taylor’s a registered Republican, and Elisabeth replied, "Yeah, I delivered him on the treadmill while watching President Bush."
  • Elisabeth is nursing, telling Sherri Shepherd that, "the chest is huge… everytime I look down I think of you, Sherri."
  • Grace loves her new little brother and tried to feed him Goldfish. Elisabeth said that when she had Taylor on her lap this morning, Grace was saying, "Oh my little baby," and that "he knows her voice. She has no volume control so she’s loudanyways, but he definitely heard her the entire time he was in my bellyand knows who she is now."

- Sara Watson on

I knew it was a boy, said it here from day one. I was right when she was pregnant with grace too. Anyway that’s great, they now have a daughter and son. I think he will be named after Tim, Elisabeth named grace after her and she seems to like family traditional names to me.

- gianna on

Congrats!! Now she has one of each!!

- Miss155 on

i was thinking boy as well… and i too think that the baby will have tim’s name incorporated into his own.

- meghan on

My guess it the baby’s name is going to be Thomas. That’s Tim’s middle name.

- Laila on

Congratulations to Elisabeth and Tim!! I knew it was a boy!! I can’t wait to hear what his name will be. Thinking he’s going to be named after his father. Know he’ll as be gorgeous as his older sister Grace. Can’t wait to see pics of him!

- J.J. on

Congratulations to Elisabeth, Tim, and big sister Grace! :-) I’m sure he’s just darling, and I can’t wait to hear his name. It wouldn’t at all surprise me if Tim’s name is a part of his.

- Jennifer on

So excited for her!!!! Can’t wait to hear his name!

- Poshie T on

Wow! Congrats to them! I don’t know why but for some reason it feels like she only got pregnant a short time ago. With some celebs it feels like they are pregnant for ages but I feel like for her it went really fast. Does anyone know when she was due?

Sarah’s note: November 11th. I think it’s in the post?

- Liree Bleu Danish on

she looks pretty good now a days!

- robbyman on

Yea, so happy for her I could cry!!!

- kim on

My guess is his name will be Thomas Timothy Hasselbeck.

Her daughter is Grace Elisabeth (her middle and first name) so I think the son will have the same middle first name switch with Tim.

- Shannon on

Aww, congrats! They seem like such a nice family. I’m having a boy in the beginning of March, so I’m extra excited when I hear of another boy being born! :) Glad he arrived safely.

- Julie on

Dearest Hasselbeck Family…Congratulations. Elisabeth, my daughter and I are two of your favorite fans. There is ablsolutely nothing as important on this earth as family. That is what it is all about! Tim.you have your two princesses and now your little football player!!!!Yea…Sincerely…Glenna Zink and Misty Anastasia

- Glenna and Misty on

That’s so exciting! It’s awesome when people choose to keep the sex a surprise, but I know I could never do it! Congrats to them! Ok, so who’s next? I’m sure there are some, but I can’t think of any celeb babies that are due around this time.

Sarah’s note: Jill Hennessy should be anytime now. Then first week of December is Poppy Montgomery and Drea de Matteo, then Constance Zimmer, Usher’s wife, and Helena Bonham Carter. That’s the next batch!

- legemc on

Exciting!! I was also thinking boy and was thinking this morning… “I wonder if she had her baby yet”

Cant wait to watch and hear his name!!

- Liza on

I think I read on Elisabeth´s wikipedia entry that the baby´s name is Cayden James. Could be totally false, though

- cat on

I am so happy for them and that precious baby boy………..Congratulations to you too Grace………….Now you have a little brother to love. A precious gift from GOD is what a baby is…………Jackie

- Jackie Cottle on

Congratulations Elisabeth,Tim & Grace!! I’m so happy for all of you! I think it is wonderful that you have a son. My son was also born on November 9th so now our baby boys will share the same birthday! I can’t wait to hear his name and what time he was born. It would be funny if he was born at the same time as my son who was born on the 9th at 8:29 a.m.! I’m so happy for both of you! Congratulations again and Best Wishes!

- Denelle on

Awww! Congrats on your baby boy Elisabeth and Tim!!!

So cool that he was born on my Mom’s birthday! :)

- Lauren22 on

Hi I am very happy for Tim and Elisabeth, I just read on Wikipedia, they let the name slip!!! Someone just updated her history with Ryan Hassleback born November 9, 2007, my bet is Ryan Timothy, or Ryan Thomas!

Sarah’s note: We’re going to wait until Elisabeth announces it on Monday. Although Ryan may be true, anyone can edit Wikipedia so we can’t use it as a source, unfortunately.

- Kim on

Congrats to Elisabeth, Tim and Big Sister Grace!!!

I’ve been checking this site everyday (several times a day) to see when Elisabeth gave birth. I had a feeling she was going to have a boy. Can’t wait to hear what his name is….like everyone else, I’m thinking he will be have Tim’s name like Grace has Elisabeth’s.

- jashmom on

congrats to them. i don’t know much about them but they seem like a down-to-earth, cool family. thanks for the upcoming births info, sarah,i think there should be a little calendar on the home page like that.

like:

NOV 2007

JAN 2008:

u get the picture-maybe like 3mths in advance..something like that….like an airport tv screen LMAO..just a thought…..

Sarah’s note: That is something we’re planning to start back up again in the future. Probably in January. We used to do it in 2004 but stopped once the site got bigger. Once Angela is totally trained to my old position it’s something I’d definitely like to do again.

- ang on

it says on wikipedia that the baby’s name is ryan- wonder if it’s true?

- Joan on

What secondary infertility did they have? My daughter is nearly 2 months older than Grace is and we conceived our second baby (born October 21st) in January on our first cycle of trying.

Sarah’s note: They had been trying to conceive again since Grace was 6 months old, but it took them almost 2 years to be successful. They were seeing doctors to try to figure out why it was taking so long for them.

- Rebecca on

Here is his name

Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Born May 28, 1977 (1977-05-28) (age 30)
Cranston, Rhode Island, United States
Occupation Co-host on The View
Spouse Tim Hasselbeck (July 6, 2002 – present)
Children Grace Elisabeth Hasselbeck (born April 6, 2005),
Ryan Thomas Hasselbeck (born November 9, 2007)

- samdra on

I know his name

Ryan Thomas Hasselbeck (born November 9, 2007)

Sarah’s note: Thanks for the Wiki posts but we are unable to use them. We’ll see on Monday if it was right!

- SANDRA on

This is very exciting! I began following celebrity baby blog when Elisabeth was pregnant with Grace because it was the only place where I could be sure to find info. on the birth. I’ve been following ever since! I love this family and am very excited for them!

- Emily on

I’m so excited for them!! Now they have a girl and a boy! I wonder if she’ll want more? Hahaha. That’s so great. I bet he is beautiful. I can’t wait to see pictures!

- Andrea on

If that’s true I love the baby’s name, Ryan is such a cute boy’s name and thomas is great in honor of Tim. I’m sure there thrilled, to have a girl and than a boy is so wonderful because you get to experience being a parent to a boy and a girl.

- gianna on

About the next celeb. babies, shouldn’t Campbell Brown be due now too? Or did she have her baby and I completely missed it? HELP! :o )

Sarah’s note: She’s due next month.

- snow on

I had a feeling it was a boy since the day she announced her pregnancy! I also think for some reason she’ll be very traditional and keep the family names going. Her mother’s name is also Elisabeth and her daughter is Grace Elisabeth. So my prediction is it will have a Thomas (Tim’s middle name), Kenneth (Elisabeth’s dad and brother), Donald (Tim’s dad), Matthew (Tim’s brother) or Timothy in the name!! :)

- J.M. on

She is very traditional. My guess is the baby’s name is John. Probably John Timothy or John Paul (the late pope.)

- Nancy on

her little boy is 5 days younger than my cousins little boy! It is totally the year of the boys…lo. Congrats Elisabeth, she totally rocks I almost met her when I was in The View audience.

- Charlotte on

I have also noticed a lot of boys born this year, I had a son in April, both of my sister-in-laws had sons in September and on Friday, the same day as Elisabeth’s little guy. There are also 4 other baby boys born in ’07 that I can think of that I knew personally.
Maybe next year will be the year of the girl since I know 2 women due early next year that are pregnant with girls. I am also pregnant, hopefully with a little girl, but it is too early to know the sex. Another boy would be nice too though :) .

- Rachel on

Elisabeth was just on the View via phone, and announced the baby’s name as Taylor Thomas Hasselbeck

- Steph on

His name is Taylor Thomas

- shannon on

The baby’s name is TAYLOR THOMAS as was just announced on The View.

- Evaglow on

I’m surprised about this name. I like the name Thomas, but Taylor has become used more often for girls, not boys. I thought they would go with a very traditional first name, such as Thomas or John, and not a trendy surname used as a first name name.

- Nancy on

I love Thomas.
I was a little bit surprised about Taylor being his first name just bc Grace seems very traditional but isn’t very popular today?

Is there a meaning behind Taylor to them?
I babysit for one and he was given the name after his father’s grandmother’s maiden name but like EH’s son has a traditional and classic middle name

Congrats to the Hasselbecks!
Did they show a picture?

- Catherine on

Surprising. I also find it a bit feminine; however, there seems to be a trend of talking names back to their original “sex.” More Sidneys and Logans as boys instead of girls. Just seems like a mix-matched sib-set. In any case, glad all is well and he is healthy. (Rmeinds me of Jonathon Taylor Thomas :)

- brannon on

cute name, although I can’t but think of Jonathan Taylor Thomas from Home Improvement right away! :)

- Sarah on

I’m surprised she used Taylor, it seems like that name had officially crossed over to the female side. I was expecting something that matched with Grace..more on the traditional side or even something like Owen. Oh well! I’m happy Mom and baby are well.

- yogadaisy on

I love the name! Congrats to the Hasselbecks!

- Kim on

I definitely think of Taylor as a girl’s name nowadays!

- Kimber Christian on

Actually, I find Taylor quite a traditional BOYS’ name…I never found anything feminine about it. I think it sounds perfect as a brother next to frilly, girly Grace. Kudos for Elisabeth and Tim for choosing to take it back for the boys!

By the way, people, ANYONE — even random psychos — can edit Wikki, so next time stop posting the same information from there over and over! See how wrong it was?

- J on

I’m liking Taylor! I plan on naming my son Morgan, which is used mainly for girls now.

- Stephanie on

I love the name Taylor for a boy. It was what I wanted to name my son when I was younger, but now I wouldn’t use it (maybe for a middle name) because I don’t want him to be in a class full of Taylor’s and they all be girls.

Still love the name though.

Bet he’s a cutie.

- set1031 on

While Grace is a traditional name, its also gotten pretty popular in recent years. Its been on the Top 20 list of baby girl names since 2000. In 2005 (the year Grace was born), it was the 14th most popular girls name in the US. So I’m not at all surprised that she would go with a trendy boys name as well.

- madison on

I am very happy for them. It’s funny I always think of Taylor as a girl’s name nad Tyler as a boy’s name! Probably because of Taylor on Bold and the Beautiful!
That is some BIG bow on little Grace’s head! I hope she enjoys the rest of her FMLA with her two sweeties!

- Lola on

I like the name Taylor a lot for a boy. I am surprised that she chose a trendier name instead of a more classic one (I was sure Timothy was going to be incorporated into the name somewhere), but I think it’s great. And that picture of Grace holding him is adorable. Her bow is too much!

Congrats to all of them!

- Lauren on

GLAD YOU HAD A BOY, NOW MAYBE YOUR VIEWS WILL CHANGE ABOUT SENDING OUR BOYS OFF TO WAR.

- ALBERT on

Congrats to them…
I am sure he is a gorgeous baby just like his sister…

First thing I thought though…

Elizabeth Taylor.

- heather on

I think Taylor is a fine name for a boy. Like Stephanie said in a post above, a ALSO want to name my SON Morgan. I don’t believe it’s a girl’s name… I hate that it’s now traditionally being used more with girls. Oh well.

- Gina on

Taylor Thomas Hasselbeck isn’t bad at all, although the name Taylor is much preferable for a girl. I used to know two boys named Taylor, so it isn’t unusual or anything. Anyway, I’m glad they have announced the name and have provided a really cute photo! Both Taylor and Grace are adorable and looks like they are sharing a special sibling bond. For some reason, this photo reminds of when Grace’s birth was announced 2 years ago. I still remember when I heard about it. And now Grace is a big and doting sister to her little brother. Can’t believe these little ones are growing so fast. Don’t you think??

- J.J. on

I do like Taylor for a boys name but I was very surprised she went with that. It doesn’t sound very masculine anymore on boys. And it doesn’t really go with Grace. But I am sure they picked it for a reason. It reminds me of Jonathan Taylor Thomas the actor from Home Improvement!!

- J.M. on

Grace looks so cute with the bow on her head! Looks like she picked it out herself and had Daddy put it in.

- Dana on

I think of taylor as a girl name, thought she would pick something that matched with grace a bit more. I think tyler would have sounded cuter, but congrats to her. And the baby to me, looks just like Tim and Grace.

- gianna on

Tim looks so much older than he really is, and Elizabeth looks good but tired. The photo of Taylor with Grace is cute, though that big bow sitting on her head again cracks me up. :)

Congrats to Tim and Elizabeth on their baby boy. :)

- FC on

Because of the all the hoopla, I guess I was expecting something more original. But Taylor has been traditionally masculine up until the last 10 years.

- J-Lin on

Well this goes to show that you can’t trust Wikipedia.
Congratulations to Tim, Elizabeth, and Grace! He is a handsome little boy.

- Colleen on

Congratulations, again, to Elisabeth, Tim, and Grace!

I’m rather surprised at the choice of Taylor as his first name, since I was expecting something more traditional, that hasn’t crossed over to the feminine side. I was figuring on a name that isn’t trendy (and one that is perhaps popular, like Grace), such as Jacob, John, Nathan, Ethan, or Michael. Thomas doesn’t at all surprise me as his middle name.

Obviously, Wikipedia can’t be trusted, though I must admit I would have preferred Ryan Thomas.

- Jennifer on

I personally think Taylor is a girl’s name but I may be biased. My daughter is named Taylor. I just think of a girl when I hear the name Taylor.

- Kelley on

I agree with the people that said it reminds them of the kid from Home Improvement. That is the first thing I thought of when I heard the name!

- legemc on

How Ironic, she had him on the same day I had my daughter,Kaitlin, 18 years ago. Also my nephew is named Taylor Thomas as well. Blessings to all.

- Jennifer on

Oh he was born on my son’s 1st birthday, a Scorpio look out world. Congratulation to Elizabeth, Tim and Grace, our son is a joy you will really enjoy having him!

- Melissa on

Tim def. looks a lot older. And what’s up with the big bows in Grace’s hair all the time!! tacky!! lol

But Elisabeth sounded completely different on the phone. She does look happy though for just delivering. Wonder when baby #3 will join the family ;)

- J.M. on

Taylor -girl name! ..it’s not too late to change his name.
Very happy for them though.. she is so blessed to have both a girl and now a boy, how fortunate is that!

- Teresa Hunt on

That is one pretty er “handsome” newborn baby – especially for a vaginal birth! Is it just me, or does he look more like a week old, he just looks so alert, but with the extra stimulation she gave him, that might be the key. I don’t know since I haven’t had any of my own naturally yet.

I think the baby looks like Tim, and until I re-read the post, I realized that his middle name isn’t Timothy, but rather Thomas. I think it is a beautiful name and definitely traditional. I have a feeling that it is family related somehow.

My girlfriends and I had a bet going all weekend regarding his name – would he get some avant garde name, or would he get a name that was more traditional. It kind of shocked me when my friends didn’t think that Elisabeth and Tim – being such a conservative family – would be traditional in their selection, especially after they named their daughter Grace. Granted, some of these wild and wacky names have grown on me and I have the only “normal” name of my family.

I hope that the whole family is able to celebrate in the birth of Taylor, and I pray that they will be able to come home as a family when she returns to work next year. Congrats to the Hasselbecks!

- Tami on

I think Taylor is a great name – that is my son’s name also! He is Taylor David, born in July. I think the name could be either boy or girl – I always think of American Idol Taylor Hicks when I hear it. Congrats to Elisabeth and Tim and Grace.

- Michelle on

I myself have a son named Taylor,16, it doesn’t bother him in the least to know more Taylor’s who are girls, what bothers him is people are always calling him Tyler. My husband chose his name, he is named after James Taylor and Harry Chapin.
Congratulations to the happy family….

- heather on

aww congrats to them!
Taylor is adorable and Grace is gonna be such a cute big sister!

- Samia on

everyone has babies every day, and i am glad the baby is fine. Elizabeth, you need to be a stay at home mom, because you are an arrogant, loud mouth, opinionated, doesn’t let anyone talk, and you think you know everything, but you are pretty ignorant about the real world. I have watched the show everyday since you left, because you get on my nerves, and I refuse to listen to stupid people. STAY HOME!!DON’T COME BACK! BE THE PERFECT PERSON YOU THINK YOU ARE AND BE JUST A MOM.
