Nicole Richie does a little shopping in L.A.

Pregnant reality television star Nicole Richie, 26, did a little shopping yesterday in Los Angeles. Nicole and her boyfriend, Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden, 28, expect their first child in January.  The couple is trying not to find out the sex of the baby.

How can she wear those shoes? I too am due in January and would love to wear nice heals but can’t because my feet would just kill. I’m still wearing sandles all the time because my feet are so hot. That’s cool though if you can do it, I must be a wimp.

Celebrities still amaze me when I see them in heels so far along in their pregnancies. I’ve never been pregnant, but I’m working on it now, but I thought I read somewhere, that at a certain point in your pregnancy, your center of gravity is off. And, it also mentioned because of that, that it is safer and more comfortable to where shoes that are flat or something close to it.

But, anyway she still looks great. And besides its whatever she wants to do and feels comfortable with.
I remember when Christina Aquilera wore heels all the time, I think just recently she started wearing flats more.
I wonder what kind of shoes I’ll wear when I’m pregnant? Probably the same as now flats w/the occasional heel! LOL

ok – how is she wearing those heels? Doesn’t she get leg cramps? lol I’m 27 weeks and haven’t worn heels in months!

Those are some really high heels! She looks great.

Those heels look PAINFUL !! I’m due mid-December and wouldn’t dream of wearing heels like that … I’d be too afraid to fall.

- Caroline on

Those are some high heels. She looks great though, and when your a person used to wearing heels a lot of women wear them till the end. I never feel comfortable in flats, rarely ever.

She looks great
All best wishes to Nicole, Joel and their baby

I think what we have to remember with this whole idea of celebs wearing high heels while pregnant, is that often they don’t have very far to walk in them. Remember these are people who get dropped off and picked up, and often only have to walk inside a theatre for a show, or inside of a starbucks for a coffee. They know they will be photographed relentlessly, so why not look as great as possible? I think it’s the stars who are less “popular” or who may not have someone to do everything for them, and do a lot for themselves, who appear to be more “real” and wear clothes and shoes we can relate to.

look at those itty, bitty ankles!

Not trying to be critical but that second picture looks rather dangerous to me – those heels, and the fact that she appears to be writing a text message while walking and that she is wearing sun glasses – how on earth does she even see where she’s going?

If you wear heels all the time you get used to them. My cousin’s MIL has worn high heels all her life and her tendon in the bottom of her foot has shortened so she is uncomfortable in anything else. She even has high heeled bedroom slippers. Nicole looks great but she looks so thin to me..her arms and legs. I hope she has an easy time of her last couple months.

I don’t think her shoes are dangerous, she’s used to them so it isn’t an issue for her.

I do agree with Carol Lee, she looks too thin still. I hope she is healthy.

i love that she took her extensions off.
Her hair looks really nice

I really don’t think the heels are a big deal. Like someone said, you get use to heels if you wear them all the time. I’m due the first week of December & for years I’ve just wore heels. Even my winter boots have heels that I wear even in snow storms. Since I’ve been pregnant, I’ve tried to be “safe” so I went & bought some flats. A few weeks ago I finally wore my flat…5 steps out of my back door I fall & almost break my ankle, sending me to L&D for 5 hours & then to the ER for my ankle. Sounds silly, but I’d forgotten how to wear flats over the years, so I’ve since gone back to my heels, on days my ankle isn’t hurting, & have been stable since.

OMG How can she wear those heels?? I used to wear heels all the time before I got pregnant the 2nd time but developed SPD so had to wear flats from 4 months. I still can’t wear heels now!!

Well done to hear for managing to do it!!

Hey, I will let you guys in on a little secret about those shoes! Those lovely Christian Louboutins that she wears ALL the time, look really high, but they actually have a secret platform in them so they are much easier to walk in than you would think and much more comfortable!!

- sarah on

She has great style so why not? I know all too well about the foot swelling problem but she obviously does not have it. It is obvious that she is naturally very petite. There are women in my family like that, they look like Jackie O until the baby arrives.
What Sarah said is very true. Louboutin & Blahnik’s as well as other expensive shoes are built with the illusion of greater height. It is all about the actual incline. Go try a pair on and you will see. All my expensive pairs feel 2-3 inches shorter than they are, Manaolo’s being the best.

- Nancy on

I wish I could wear heels like that, I’m 8 months pregnant and have developed horrible SPD. Haven’t been able to wear high heels since 4 months back and now I can’t walk at all. Jealous much!
