Liam McDermott has fun while visiting The View

Tori Spelling has some interesting stories for her son Liam Aaron, turning 8-months-old next week, when he grows up.  Tori told the ladies on The View Tuesday that Liam’s first diaper change in the infamous ‘Spelling Mansion’ took place in the even more infamous ‘gift-wrapping room,’ prompting co-host Joy Behar to quip that Tori is lucky "they didn’t mail him UPS, the poor kid."

It seems that Liam has a soft spot for Joy’s fellow co-host Sherri Shepherd.  Before the show began taping, Sherri was holding the baby when he called her ‘mom.’  Although some moms might feel slighted by such a situation, Tori seemed to take it all in stride.

I thought, ‘Isn’t that a good story?’  The first time he says, ‘Mom,’ and Sherri Shepherd’s holding him.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg had a different interpretation entirely, however.  After Sherri said Liam "snuggled right in" as she held him, Whoopi suggested that perhaps ‘mom’ wasn’t on his mind at all:

Maybe he was saying, ‘Yum!’

Liam is the first child for Tori and her husband Dean McDermott.  Dean also has a son, Jack, from a previous marriage.

loved seeing T on the view- hope she fills in again in the future!

question- Doesn’t Dean also have a daughter that he adopted with his ex wife? Why isn’t she ever listed when noting his children (not just this site, but others as well)?

Sarah’s note: When they divorced, it was not complete and his ex finalized the adoption as a single parent. Legally he only has two sons.

I had the same question Andrea! Thanks for answering it Sarah.

I don’t know why, but I just don’t like Tori and Dean. I think it’s because of the whole situation of Dean leaving his wife, son and newly adopted daughter for Tori. It just seems so wrong. And while I’m happy for Dean and Tori that they seem in love with each other and their baby, it’s still so sad to me that their happiness came at the expense of his family.

Love Tori!!!! Her new jewelry line is great too!

Kait I agree completely. I am a pretty forward thinking person, but leaving his wife when they had just taken custody of thier child, doesn’t really put a good spin on a person’s character. I also didn’t like what Tori said about the ex, after all whether he has 1 or 2 children with her, the reality is it is their mother.
I wish them well, but there not a couple I look up to/think are good role models or have any interest in.

The baby probably said MOM to Sherri Shepard because his nanny is AfricanAmerican and probably spends alot of time with his nanny.

dean left coz his ex treated him like dirt & made his life miserable(& i’ve read her side of the story & she could’ve denied it as it was a toronto newspaper but she didn’t). i think people are wrong to hold this against him & tori forever out of convenience. it’s got nothing to do with you!

love liam though-he’s such a character-great story =)

Tori seems like a nice down to earth girl, especially to be so rich lol. She lost all the baby weight, looks even thinner than before she got pregnant from liam when I saw her on the view

While I’m a pretty traditional person (I think alot of people take divorce, and marriage for that matter, too lightly) I think in this case we don’t have all the info to make a judgement on what happened. So to make a judgement on dean over this story seems a bit unfair. Who knows what the real situation was? Maybe the marriage was already on the rocks, maybe the wife wanted to add a baby but Dean felt it was a bad idea b/c of their marital issues. Who knows, I’m just speculating. I guess I’m just saying that sometimes staying together for the sake of the kids doesn’t end up being a better situation for them.
