Introducing the 2007 Celebrity Baby Blog Holiday Charity Project

Newman_logoFor the past two years, we’ve organized an official holiday giving project that includes our readers and our sponsors.  This year’s project, A Month of Auctions, will benefit the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic & Institute (NBCI) at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, run by world renowned breastfeeding advocate and pediatrician Dr. Jack Newman.  The primary function of the NBCI is to assist breastfeeding mothers and their babies with breastfeeding challenges. It also provides clinical training for pediatric residents, medical students, nurses, and candidates for those who intend to become International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.  As the NBCI no longer receives funding from the Canadian government, it is in danger of closing, having already reduced its hours.  Even though the center is in Canada, their work and website is an amazing resource to all nursing mothers and those who wish to help them. (As a nursing mother, I referred to their website  many times.) We hope to top past years’ donations by raising over $4,000.

CelebritybabyblogcharityprojectHow we’re going to do it
Beginning today, we will post about one auction prize a day for the entire month.  This is a win-win-win opportunity.

  • The sponsors who are donating prizes will have a chance to tell you about their brand and products,
  • the Newman Clinic will receive 100% of the fees that sponsors have paid to participate as well as the profits from the auctions,
  • you the readers can buy some great gifts for the holidays, baby showers, etc.

You can also donate directly.
Go to www.canadianbreastfeedingfoundation.org and click on the "Donate Now" button in the left hand column and follow the instructions. When asked for your "Fund/Designation,"  please be sure to indicate that you wish your donation to be used to benefit the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic and Institute. If you reside in Canada, tax receipts for these donations will be issued on behalf of the Canadian Breastfeeding Foundation via Canada Helps, which is an online donation service for non-profit organizations.
