Clint Eastwood supports daughter Alison at the premiere of her directorial debut
Director Clint Eastwood, 77, appeared at the LA premiere of daughter Alison’s, 35, directorial debut of her new movie Rails & Ties. Clint’s son, Kyle, 39, was also at the premiere in support of his sister.
Rails & Ties includes performances from actors Kevin Bacon and Marcia Gay Harden, both who appeared in Mystic River, directed by Clint. When comparing her father’s directing style to hers, Alison said:
I’d say I pretty much have a similar directing style to his. I came in under budget and on time, and I do a little more than one take. He’ll do a couple of takes. We both come from the school of not wanting to kill it.
Alison explained that her father did not factor into her ability to run with the film direction of the movie. She explained:
Just because you’ve grown up around someone who directs doesn’t mean they let you do it, too.
There are benefits of having a multi-Oscar winner father though. Clint offered Alison a chance to shadow him for a week while he was filming Letters From Iwo Jima. Alison said:
It was wonderful. He’s not a man of many words. He doesn’t get chatty. Instead of telling me anything, he let me be a fly on the wall and watch him at a different level. It was his way of being helpful, by showing me how he worked.
Both Kyle and Alison are children from Clint’s first marriage to Maggie Johnson.
