Update: Giveaway: Guarantee the Sex of Your Baby

10/22/2007 at 09:30 AM ET

Update: The winners and the old wives tales they’ve heard are…

  • Holly – An old wives tale concerning gender is that your cravings indicated what you were having. Salty cravings indicate a boy, whereas sugary indicate a girl.
  • Sarah – I’ve heard if you have that pregnancy glow and healthy skin and hair, it’s a boy. If your hair and skin turn oily and limp, it’s a girl!
  • Bess – Apparently if a woman is carrying a boy, she’ll want to have sex morethan usual because of the increased amounts of testosterone. If she’scarrying a girl, she has extra oestrogen and doesn’t want her partneranywhere near her. It makes sense, but I don’t know whether it’s trueor not.
  • Lisa W. – I was always told that if you carried high you would be expecting agirl but if you carried low than a boy would be on the way. I carriedhigh both times and had two boys.
  • Gianna – If you check under your tongue and you see more red it’s a girl, and ifunder your tongue it’s more of a blue/vein color your most likely tohave a boy. That’s worked three different times in my family.

Did you try to use a scientific method to choose your child’s gender?  Did it work?

Guarantee_sex_of_your_babyLook at celebrity moms like Victoria Beckham and her all boy brood, she says, she wants a girl.  But would she try to tip the odds?  Maybe. Posh Spice is not alone.  For as long as women have been having babies, they have wanted to be able to influence the sex of their babies.  Unfortunately the old wives tales that have been passed around are not scientifically based and therefore don’t really work any better than pure luck. The good news is that science has caught up with our desires to be able to choose whether we have a girl or a boy.

Guarantee the Sex of Your Baby: Choose a Girl or Boy Using Today’s 99.9% Accurate Sex Selection Techniques guides prospective parents step-by-step through the maze of options currently available — from the unpredictable (and now outdated) timing method, to highly effective sperm sorting, to the preimplantation genetic diagnosis, which guarantees accuracy.

The author, Robin Elise Weiss, describes the most advanced methodologies in simple lay terms so that they are easily understood. But Guarantee the Sex of Your Baby does more than explain how the technology works — it prepares the reader for the personal experience of sex selection, fertility drugs, artificial insemination, and/or in vitro fertilization. A bonus chapter details the added medical benefits of genetic testing, including preimplantation screening for single gene defects like cystic fibrosis, B thalassemia, Tay-Sachs disease, sickle cell disease, and Huntington’s disease.

Five lucky CBB readers will win copies of Guarantee the Sex of Your Baby.
To enter, post a comment with an old wives’ tale that supposedly predicts the gender of a baby that you’ve heard (such as carrying high or low).  If you don’t know any, then visit www.girlorboy.org and tell us the name of one of the scientific methods for gender selection that Robin’s book discusses. (Giveaway closes Saturday, October 20 at 1 pm EST.)

I always heard that if the baby’s heartrate is over 140, it’s a girl, and if it’s under 140, it’s a boy. In my daughter’s case it was true, her heartrate was always high!

Sarah on

I heard that if you’re craving sour foods, it’s a boy, if you crave sweets, it’s a girl. Didn’t work for my friend, she’s carrying a boy and craves brownies.

Melanie on

If you have clear radiant skin during your pregnancy (as opposed to developing acne) then you are having a girl, because girl hormones give the mother clear skin, and boy hormones cause the mother to have acne.

GIngi on

I remeber being told about the ring test. You use a piece of string and hold your wedding band over your belly. The direction that that ring spins is supposed to predict the sex of your baby.

Nicole on

I have found this one pretty accurate with me and many of my friends…

Gain lots of weight–girl
Gain a little weight–boy

Katie on

With my first, a lot of people told me that it was a girl because I had terrible acne! They said that I was giving my beauty to my daughter. And she is gorgeous now!

Jenn on

Baby’s heartrate — if it’s above 140 it’s a girl, less than that it’s a boy.

It wasn’t true for me! My baby’s heart rate was in the 160s all the time – and he is 100% boy!

Casey on

They say that supposedly if the baby’s heart rate is above 140 bpm that it’s a boy and if it is below 140 bpm then it is a girl. But I have two boy’s and one was above and one was below 140 bpm.

Lisa White on

I have always heard that if you carry your baby high it’s a girl and if you carry your baby low it’s a boy. But both my boys were high!

Crystal on

It is said that 140+ beats per minute (BPM)your baby is girl and under 140 BPM your baby is a boy.

Jennifer on

This book sounds really interesting. I would love to read it to plan for baby #2. When I was pregnant, I heard that if you’re carrying the baby low and wide, you’re having a boy. If you’re carrying high and narrow, you’re having a girl. Also, my mom believes that if you eat a lot of veggies before pregnancy you’ll have a girl. But, I think they are just old wives tales…

Jenn on

I was told that if I held a string with a pencil on the end above my stomach, depending on which way it moved, it would tell the sex of my baby…yeah right! Let’s trust a pencil, a string and an unsteady hand! I think my husband moved it the way he wanted to so he got what he wanted! We still don’t know!

Maya on

I’ve heard that if the woman is on top during intercourse, the baby will be a girl.

Silverkoala on

When I was Pregnant with Jhye my mum threw me a baby shower. At my baby shower my mother had me choose, from a tray, a snack to eat. I picked a pickle onion, cabbonosi and cheese to have on a cracker. Little did I know they were testing me. Apparently if I had picked something sweet I was going to have a little girl but they were all convinced I was having a boy because I went for the savoury.
Truth is I have always prefered savoury things to sweet things, pregnant or not.

Liesl on

I’ve always heard that if you pinch a woman’s chin and the fold is out, the woman will have a girl and if the fold is in the woman will have a boy. It certainly doesn’t work, but my friends in school used to apply the test on all of us. Interesting enough, our chins predicted we’d have girls but we all had baby boys LOL

AmberStarLynn on

Dangling a ring – I heard you should use your wedding ring – on a string over your belly. If it swings back and forth, it’s a boy. If it moves in a circle, it’s a girl.

danielle on

If your craving salty foods, it’s a boy!

Jody on

I was told that craving citrus fruits when pregnant meant a girl….I did and I had twin girls!

I’ve always heard that if a woman gains a lot of weight all over (in her face, legs, arms…etc) shes having a girl, if she’s all tummy, it’s a boy.

Bobbi on

I have always heard that the amount of morning sickness a woman experiences, can tell you if it’s a boy or a girl. But women with both boys and girls tells me there is no difference.

Gena on

Supposedly, if you have a lot of heartburn during pregnancy, your child will be born with a head of hair.

Lucy on

In Mexico, people say that if your tummy is wide, you’re carrying a girl. If its pointy and just sticking out towards the front, its a boy.

Old wives tale: If you get uglier with pregnancy, you’re having a girl because she steals the mother’s looks.

I’d love to win a copy of this book for two friends who have both had 3 boys and would love a little princess to round out their broods. :)

Adeana on

i’ve heard that when a woman is carrying a girl, she has the most outward, physical changes…like her skin might react harshly, her features spread more, basically she just looks terrible because there’s a cute baby girl developing, thus sucking up all of the cuteness-LOL!

i know that’s not true, because i carried my daughter fabulously and was all tummy, so everyone was surprised…they just KNEW i was having a boy!

JACKIE on

I HAVE ALWAYS SEEN THOSE CHINESE GENDER PREDICTION CHARTS BASED ON YOUR AGE AND WHEN YOU CONCEIVE BUT IT WAS RIGHT WITH ONE OF MY CHILDREN AND WRONG WITH THE OTHER.

Bobbi on

The Shettles method suggests that if you time intercourse about 12 hours prior to ovulation, you may be able to conceive a boy; if you time it several days before ovulation, you may be able to conceive a girl.

Crystal on

I need this book because I want a girl so badly for my first child!

My wives tale:
Soft hands=girl
Dry hands=boy

Rye on

I have a friend who has conceived using the Shettles Method succesfully. She had a boy and wanted a girl and researched and tried the method out and it worked. She had a little girl. When they were ready for another child they decided to go with trying for another girl and they did the method again and it worked. Then finally, before my friend had her tubal ligation she wanted one more baby and they tried the method for a boy and it worked…so based on her experiences with the shettles method, i believe in it. i still dont know if I believe old wives tales like carrying high or low meaning anything though. Another old wives tale I have heard of is that if you crave a lot of sweets during a pregnancy you are having a girl and if you cant get enough spicey and tangy things along with meats than you are having a boy. I know this theory is just a rumor because my mom craved chocolate and ice cream with all of her boys and my friends have craved sweets with there boys and meats with there girls…so its all relative to the person.

One old wives tale is if you hold a pendant over your hand and it swings back and forth, you’re having a boy and if it swings in more of a circular motion, you’re having a girl. It can also be done by suspending a ring on a string above your belly.

I guessed the sex of my baby with old wives tales. Intuition told me that it was a girl, boy was I wrong. I was craving meat and salty, I was glowing and looking great (they say that girls steal their mothers beauty), his heartbeat was under 140, I was not sick at all (all of my morning sick friends had girls), and I became super hairy! I had random straggles of hair growing on my chin.

PSB on

If you’re pregnant and your first baby has an equal amount of rolls in his legs on either side, you will have the same sex baby again. If he has a different number of leg rolls on each leg, the sex of the next baby will be different. My babysitter is from SE Asia and swears by this!

I REALLY want this book, because I’m hoping her old wives tale is wrong and I will have a girl this time. I’m only planning on having two kids, so I’d love to have one of each!

Alicia A. on

Instead of trying to play God, we should leave our babies’ genders up to God and be thankful for what we got.

With my first baby, everyone said I was having a boy because I had ZERO morning sickness~but I had a beautiful baby girl :)

Amanda on

I heard if the heart beat was over 160 it was a girl, under was a boy. It worked with both my girls but a friend’s boy had his above 160 too. I also heard and agree with the if you are pregnant with a girl she’ll steal your looks and you gain weight all over instead of just in the tummy LOL Two girls and both times I felt icky the whole pregnancy.
I would love either gender for our next baby but my husband would love to have a boy since it will be our last. I’m willing to tip the scales a little :)

The first wives tale is if you have sex in a certain position you will conceive a boy for sure. I cannot devulge the position but it worked for us or was it luck, mmmmmm?

i agree with alicia a.

most of my babies are otherside vs. earthside, and my wee man here with me has severe autism (he cannot speak at age five.)

all i care about is that my babies arrive safe & sound, and that once they do they are healthy and dont have to suffer in any way (if i could have all of my little ones here with me,and if i could take my sons autism away,i would do so in an instant. my children and my husband are my everything and i want the best for them all!!)

boy or girl,im happy if my babe is alive, well & happy too.

Sheri on

As a medical professional, though I never share my hunches with the patients I can usually tell the sex of the baby based on heart rate, which is true for about 3/4 of babies. Heart rate 140-145 boy. Heart rate 160-165 girl. Everything in between is always a surprise. (All three of my boys were heart rates between 150 and 155 … the gray area!)

I heard that if you are sick as a dog and look terrible and drained, you are having a girl because she is taking all your beauty. But who knows, i had a good amount of morning sickness and I had a boy.

Apparently if a woman is carrying a boy, she’ll want to have sex more than usual because of the increased amounts of testosterone. If she’s carrying a girl, she has extra oestrogen and doesn’t want her partner anywhere near her. It makes sense, but I don’t know whether it’s true or not.

The Chinese gender calendars supposedly can help determine the sex of a baby to be based on a mother’s age and the time of conception.

Another option relies on knowing the moon’s phases (waxing crescent, etc) when a woman was born…supposedly she will not conceive until the moon is in the same phase. (can’t remember the name of that theory)

char on

i’ve heard that if you hold onto your previous child’s suff (like baby clothing, toys, etc.), chances are you’ll have another child of the same gender.

my mom saved all my dresses and some toys. she ended up having 2 more girls. til this day, she still has our stuff stored in the basement.

as for me, i had a boy first and gave away most of his clothes as soon as he outgrew them. i had my 2nd child 6 years later…a baby girl. Ü

melissa rynes on

when i was pregnant with my son at the night before i knew it was a boy,

they told be about the heart beat being 140 and food cravings, even hair growing too, i thought this stuff was crazy, but no way it proven i was having a boy, i really want a girl. Been 3 years ttc, so im hoping

BostonMom on

Most of the comments here are about how to predict the gender of a child who has already been conceived, rather than planning the gender of the baby in advance — which I believe is the topic of this book.

Anyway, a word of “caution,” perhaps, to those that are interested in this method. I have conceived two children, both girls, and I am fairly sure they both were conceived on the day of ovulation. This is because both times, I was convinced it was too late in my cycle to conceive (based on all the physical signs, which I kept a close eye on). According to the book’s method, that would have given me two boys. I am thrilled to have two girls, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think that anyone should rely on this method too highly…especially if you already have a few children of the same gender and are only trying for another baby because you are hoping it will be the other gender. I have actually heard that statistically, if you have 2 children of the same gender then you are more likely to have that same gender a 3rd time. Perhaps this is my old wives’ tale, though!

The very fact that the books claims to “guarantee” the gender of your child should be a red flag…this is an impossible thing to guarantee unless you use pre-screened embryos.

mrsb on

I am not interested in the book, I would just like to say the Chinese Calender is random and doesn’t work, neither do the various diets etc. For the most part any and everything will work for some people and not for others – they’re just old wives tales.

The DR JONAS METHOD is not very well known but has been practiced for over 40 years and is scientifically proven to work if you stick to it. It is based on each individually person, the time/day/place they were born, their menstrual cycle etc They basically give you a calender and you have sex on certain days and avoid others.

After my second son, I researched EVERYTHING that was out there very thoroughly, as I desperately wanted a daughter too. I admit I was a bit skeptical, but part of me wanted it to work SO badly that my husband and I gave it a try.

To make a long story a bit shorter, it worked and we have our little princess! Our family is complete!

If only more people knew of this method! For a better understanding visit the website. I am not affiliated with them in any way, just a very happy customer. =)

I was always told that if you carried high you would be expecting a girl but if you carried low than a boy would be on the way. I carried high both times and had two boys.

Sara A on

If the woman is on top you have a girl, this was true for me and my sister who has two daughters and said she “raped” her husband by bein on top. Now my husband wants a boy so he’s been on top, I’m still hoping for a girl to beat the odds. When I was carrying sophy a few older ladies would stop me and say, “it looks like you’re having a boy,” because of how I carried her. They were shocked when I said, nope it’s a girl!

Jeannine D on

Always heard that a high heart rate meant GIRL and a low heart rate meant BOY. Guess it’s right 50% of the time!

Sheri on

I agree with MRSB. I don’t believe it is possible to “control” whether you conceive a boy or a girl. You have a 50/50 shot. The fact that “gender predictors” are based on the woman is a little silly IMO as gender is predicted by the father of the child, whether he will fertilize the egg with sperm containing the X chromosome (usually slower swimmers) or the Y chromosome (usually faster swimmers). Based on this, I do given credance to the method that if you try to conceive a couple of days before you ovulate you have a better chance of having a girl (based on the slow swimmers) and if you have intercourse while you are ovulating the chances of having a boy (faster swimmers) is slightly greater. Generally speaking, Y sperm are sprinters and X sperm are long-distance runners.

I am not interested in entering my name in the drawing.

CC on

My dad has a method of predicting, and he is always right (well so far at least)! If you can tell that a woman is pregnant when looking at her from behind, it’s a girl. If you can’t, it’s a boy.

As for my own experience. baby #1 Girl = high heart rate, bad morning sickness, put on alot of weight (everywhere!), my face changed, hair was oily and skin was bad.
Baby #2- Boy = low heart rate, no morning sickness, weight only in belly, skin and hair were radiant.
Baby#3 is somewhere in the middle, so we are stumped!
I believe that there are so many things that can go wrong from conception to birth, that to have a healthy baby is such a blessing, how could you be so picky about the sex? But that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to try and guess what it is.

shannon on

Well I heard that if you are round and high, its a boy, but if you are more *spread out* its a girl. All 3 of my pregnancies were different and I had 3 girls…

Also I tried using the Shettles method of timing but still have 3 girls!

Megan on

I’ve heard some fun ones on this. If you won’t eat the heel of the bread, you’re having a girl. If you crave sweets, girl; if you crave salty/sour, boy. If you have a lot of morning sickness, girl (that one’s actually got some documentation behind it in Sweden). If the child’s maternal grandmother (so the pregnant woman’s mother) has gray hair, a boy. If you crave orange juice, a girl. If your breasts get much larger, a girl.

I’ve also heard the heartrate thing, the Chinese calendar thing, and the hanging a needle over your belly.

LOLA on

I feel sad about books like this. A good friend of ours only wanted 2 kids, they are a “mega couple” and did the sperm selection thing after their first child, a boy, to guarantee the next one was a girl, she got pregnant with a boy and girl, she actually asked if she could abort the boy – the sex she didn’t want. The Dr told her he couldn’t do that, so she had both (although she did for a time consider aborting both and doing it again). Both babies have been born and it is very very obvious the little girl is favored. I personally feel she should have placed the boy for adoption, there are plenty of infertile families who would JUMP at the chance to adopt, but she kept saying “what would people say” not “I love my baby”. The babies are about 6 months now and let me tell you, the baby boy spends all the time with paid staff, was bottle fed etc, while baby girl is the apple of mommy’s eye and was breastfed.
While I laugh at the old wives tales, I always wonder if there are more sinister selfish reasons behind the whole thing. I kinda think, if you have 2 boys and really want a girl (or vice versa), why don’t you adopt? Do something good with your want to parent children from both genders. And remember, like my friend if it doesn’t go according to plan, will you 100% love your child and be equal in your love and attention, because it’s not fair on the child who was born if you don’t.

Ali on

I’ve always heard that carrying high it’s a boy and carrying low it’s a girl – which from what I’ve seen, seems to be 50/50! :)

mdterp on

I am not entering to win this book but am I the only one who thinks it seems odd that some people would go to the length of sorting sperm to have a certain gender child. In my opinion, that is playing with God. Each child is a blessing and a miracle no matter what the sex is. I think people should just be greatful of the child they are giving birth to instead of trying to have a certain sex child. Please no flamming, this is just my opinion.

Tami on

I don’t know if this is an old wives tale or not – didn’t check Snopes.com…but I haven’t seen this yet and if someone mentioned it I apologize. I have no children yet, but I will be in the future, and I’d love to have a son first and then a daughter, though I am going to leave it up to God…

Back to the point. If you have sex more frequently then you stand a better chance of having a boy because Y sperm swim slower, and if you have sex less frequently when planning for a child, then you stand a greater chance of having a girl due to XX sperm swimming faster…Or, is it the other way around? It has been awhile since I even thought about this or talked about this, but I am almost positive that girl sperm swim faster and live longer.

Angela Willis on

my cousin who is actually an OB nurse used a pencil on a string to try to predict the sex of my baby. It spinned in circles which I guess ment I was having a girl.. (LOL I had a boy)

Mary O on

I’ve heard that if you have lots of morning sickness you are probably going to have a girl because of all of the extra estrogen in your system.

Sheri on

Tami – X sperm (girl) swim slower but live longer. Y sperm (boy) swim faster, die sooner.

Suzanne H. on

I have heard that concieving as close to ovulation as possible favors the boy swimmers because they swim faster that the gals.

Subjects such as gender selection and quick, unrealistic post-partum weight loss give me a serious case of the eye-rolls.

If a woman looks pregnant from behind, it is a girl. If you can’t tell, it’s a boy.

Becky J on

If you want to have a girl, have sex just after the menstruation for one week, every other day would be perfect, but you can have it daily… but no more sex for the next 8 days.
If you want to have a boy, do not have sex until one week after the last day of menstruation… you can have relations until the next menstruation.

gianna on

My mom and grandmother always said people that are pregnant with girls usually don’t look as pretty in the face and it changes your facial features more, and when your pregnant with a boy you glow and your skin is flawless. For a lot of people I notice that’s true, both of my good friends had girls first and their nose got wide and their faces filled out, than with their sons their features stood the same way and they looked beautiful. This book sounds so cute.

gianna on

I forget to mention anther one. If you check under your tongue and you see more red it’s a girl, and if under your tongue it’s more of a blue/vein color your most likely to have a boy. That’s worked three different times in my family.

When I was pregnant I always looked at the Chinese Gender predictors…they were wrong both times! I was supposively having girls~ well, the first time it was a boy and the second time it was twin boys!

As others mentioned, I’ve heard that the time of conception influences boy or girl. If you’re tracking ovulation, it’s day 13 for a boy, 14 for either and day 15 for a girl.

Haven’t tested it so I can’t say it works. LOL

Also heard that if you carry high, it’s a girl

I’ve heard that the sexual position during conception predicts the gender of the baby.
Missionary position means it will be a girl, and all other positions means it will be a boy.
I never paid much attention to that though, and I have 2 girls.

Lilybett on

I don’t know if this is a similar method but my mum used some kind of gender advice for conceiving my little brother after having three girls. Mum showed me the diary they used to conceive him- it has all her temperatures and ovulation points, etc. The book they used had advice about what food you ate (and sometimes douches back when that was fashionable) so you would have a particular acidity or alkalinity (Ph level) that was appropriate to boy or girl sperm. The book combined that with sexual positions, which ultimately discussed deep or shallow penetration (one gender are faster swimmers, the other has more longevity). I found all this pretty gross when I found out – much more information than I cared to kow about my parents’ sex life. But they got their boy.

I don’t really care about the religious side of this but thinking about choosing a sex for a first baby feels weird to me. I can’t imagine saying, “yes a boy/girl would be better than the other gender” and making some kind of logical decision about it. I think these things are great for people like my Mum who already have kids of one gender and want one of the other.

vd888 on

I heard you’re more likely to carry a girl if you crave sweet things, such as juice, fruit and sweets and a boy if you crave salty food or protein, such as cheese and meat!

Jay on

Well I was told that if you have TERRIBLE morning sickness, it will be a girl. Well, I was sick my whole pregnancy, and sure enough, it was a girl!

Caryn on

I have heard that when you conceive predicts male v. female gender. It has to do with the boy sperm dying off quickly while the girl sperm survive a lot longer. Basically if you time conception right before ovulation you will have a boy and after it will be a girl (or something like that) I hope that makes sense! : )

Melissa C. on

I remember someone saying if you get lots of pimples and have that reddish tint to your face that you are having a girl “the babygirl is taking your beauty”

bjacinto on

I have heard if a woman is on top during lovemaking, it will be a boy. If the man is on top, it will be girl.

Depending on the month you conceived – if it was even or odd – you can determine what you’re having. Mine wasn’t quite right!

Victoria on

I think its a shame to plan a gender when so many couples try for many years and can’t conceive. Its truely a vanity to just be able to conceive at all.

Nona on

My mom found this topic great when I showed her. Shes been saying for decades that that I, her first, was an awful pregnancy (major MAJOR morning sickness).. but she gained only 10kilos (no clue what it is in lbs…) to her 48kilo body.. she said i was born 3kilos… small mom, hard pregnancy BUT easy on the weight gain and medium birth weight for a girl.

with my younger brother, she said the pregnancy was perfect, NO complaints and I believe she gave birth a few weeks early (he was 4kilo).. and again only 10kilo to her NORMAL, pre-1st-pregnancy weight…

so WHO knows really. she said they did nothing different at any time..

these are great to read though… old wives tales are prevalent in ALL cultures and societies and thats clearly represented on this board.

One final note… to the blogger who told the tale of a friend who wanted to abort her ‘male’ fetus and now favors the twin girl, thats majorly disturbing. I grew up with 2 sets of (natural!) triplets and their mom told us when we were back from college our first semester, that BOTH times the doctors asked her to “reduce” and both times she and her husband refused. i cannot IMAGINE my life without my friends (they had 3 identical boys the first time around, and 2 years later identical girls, and a boy!)… I understand that sometimes there is medical reason to reduce high risk pregnancies, but reduction should only be done when its ABSOLUTELY necessary… that doctor made the right decision.

sorry for the rant, but your tale kinda creeped me out.

Nellie on

I’ve heard 3 different ways. If a woman gains weight all over -girl; small round pouch-boy. I carried both ways and had a boy both times. I did gain almost the exact same weight both times even though I carried them differently, 24 and 26 lbs, very low with the first and very high with the second.

Another thing I heard is if you have hot (passionate) sex -girl; cold (ho hum) sex -boy.

Third way, if you thread a needle and let it hang over the mother’s wrist it will tell you the sex of all your children now and in the future by swinging in a line or a circle. The needle stops momentarily between each child then starts swinging again to tell the next child’s sex. I can’t remember which way the needle moves for which sex. Mine said I would have girl; boy; boy; girl with super short gap between swing times between the two boys (like close enough to be twins) and a long long gap between the last boy and girl like the girl would come years later. I only had two boys and they were born 16 months apart so that could work for the closeness in needle swings but no girls before or after the boys. But to be fair about the results – I had a tubal ligation after my second boy so there was never any chance to find out what any future children would have been. My boys are almost out of their teens now so I think if the tubal was going to fail it would have done so by now.

This is a fascinating and controversial subject! After three sons, I was desperate to have a little girl and have actually written a book on the lengths one women would go to so she can have a daughter. It is called Lullabies & Alibis and will be available at xlibris.com or you can email me for further information

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
