Justin and Sophie Trudeau welcome son Xavier James

Justin Trudeau, 35, son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, and his wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, 32, a reporter for the CTV entertainment show eTalk welcomed a healthy baby boy, Xavier James Trudeau, to their family in Montreal today.

Xavier weighed in at 9 pounds and 2 ounces. Coincidentally, Xavier arrived on the same birthday as his late grandfather, Pierre Trudeau. Justin told eTalk today:

Mom and baby are doing wonderfully.

Justin is a former teacher and just recently won the federal Liberal Party nomination in the Montreal riding of Papineau.

Aww, this warms my Canadian heart! :)

That’s amazing that he shares his birthday with his grandfather, I’m sure he would be thrilled!

Great news!

Oh that is so wonderful to hear! It is amazing Xavier was born on his grandfather’s birthday! The Trudeau family must feel both happy and sad, but their memories will help teach Xavier about the grandfather he never met. That family sure has a lot of shared birthdays (Justin and Alexandre have the same birthday in December)! Congratulations to Justin and Sophie, such a darling couple!

I’m glad they had the baby. This couple is so cool. They’re our Canadian Royalty!

If I’m not mistaken, October 18th is also the date they got engaged, as Justin proposed on his father’s birthday…
