my 4 year old daughter loves any version of cinderella. other favorites are kevin henkes’ “lilly” series, ian falconer’s “olivia” series, and jane o’connor’s “fancy nancy” series. these are stories about young feisty girls- my daughter can relate! :) of course right now we’re reading lots of halloween books.

‘Possum Magic’ by Mem Fox, ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak, any of the beautiful Graeme Base books like ‘Animalia’ or ‘The Waterhole’ and ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ by an author I can’t recall LOL.

It must be Goodnight Moon. We are at the point that my 2 yr old and 3 1/2 yr old help me read the story because they know what comes next. I have even tried to trick them by skipping a page and they know that something is not right and they call me on it! They absolutely love this book!

When I was a child, I enjoyed anything written by Dr. Seuss, from “Cat in the Hat” to “Go Dog Go” to the classic “Green Eggs and Ham”. I remember my mom taking me and my sisters to the library and I’d always be so excited to bring one of his stories home with me. Now that I am a mommy myself (my kids are ages 10 and 6), I am thrilled to see that my kids have the same love of reading that I had as a child, and they even love the same Dr. Seuss books that I did! :)
