Soleil Moon Frye hopes to make a difference with store opening

Actress Soleil Moon Frye is celebrating more than the end of a "rough" first trimester this morning; Yesterday marked the grand opening of her new eco-friendly baby boutique ‘The Little Seed’ in Los Angeles.  According to Soleil — currently four-months pregnant with her second child — the impetus behind the store rests with her 2-year-old daughter Poet

It’s an opportunity to make the planet a little greener…I had such a hard time finding great organic and non-toxic items for my daughter.  I wanted to create a place where parents can come and find products that are safe for their children, as well as good for the planet.

The Little Seed carries organic toys and sustainable furniture, but it is the non-toxic art supplies that have most captured Poet’s attention.  Says Soleil,

Poet loves to paint and draw.  As soon as she comes to the store, she grabs the crayons and starts a new art project.

With a little brother or sister just a few months away, Poet will soon have a different kind of project to get excited about.  Soleil — who suffered from all-day and all-night sickness initially with this pregnancy but is "finally feeling good" –  says that her daughter "talks to the belly all the time and tells the baby she loves it."  As for a name, don’t expect anything traditional, Soleil says.

Poet is such a unique name.  And we have a family of crazy, wonderful names so we have a lot to live up to.

For now, the actress — married to producer Jason Goldberg since 1998 — has plenty to think about.

I haven’t slept at all these last few months. It’s probably a combination of pregnancy and opening this store. It’s so exciting!

Anyone else think Poet could be Sadie Sandler’s twin?

I think this store is a great idea. I hope they do well!
